On a beautifully clear Saturday, the La Quinta Rotary Club participated in the annual City Birthday Picnic. From past performance and with our stellar reputation, we were once again asked to prepare and to serve hot dogs to the party goers. We had a great turnout of club members who enjoyed working under the canopy of our new Rotary Shade cover. It was a wonderful event, highlighted by the performances of many of the city’s song and dance studios for children. Between our cooking crew and the dog assembly crew, we served 1,200 tasty hog dogs that were garnished by gallons of mustard, ketchup and relish. A very big “Thank You” goes to all of the Rotarians who participated and made this event a great success. A special thanks goes to Adrian Gysi who took the time to remind some of the recipients of the importance of saying “thank you” for something that was freely given.
On the other side of town, our La Quinta High School Interact Club, along with Rotarians Andy Brakebill and Robert Wilkinson, held a fantastically successful car wash. A total of 100 cars took advantage of the opportunity to get clean, with their drivers contributing $5.00 for the washing. Rotarian Walter Keating showed up with a really big car (his mobile home) and used multiple tickets to get it clean. The students were excited and enthusiastic in washing this particular “car”.
