Having just returned from our 100th RI Convention Celebration which took place in Birmingham, England, I am motivated and excited about our continued focus, kicked up a notch or two, on the Polio Plus Challenge. Our new RI President, John Kenny is looking forward to the continued success of eradicating Polio. To date, Rotarians all over the world have raised $900,000 of the $2 million needed to match what has been graciously donated by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
It is our goal to live by Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self" and to conduct our business dealings by using The 4-Way Test â€" "Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?" Once again, this year is filled with wonderful opportunities for service. I invite all of you to reach out and take part in a local project that will make a difference in a child's life. I am elated by the number of you that took the time to fill out the questionnaire that was distributed a few weeks ago. It is such a delight to see how many of you are not just Rotary Members but Rotarians. That is what makes the Rotary Club of Apple Valley a great club.
Many have been involved in a project of some sort and many are looking to get involved. At this present time you have the opportunity to make it happen. Join us at a board meeting to see how you can help or simply talk with me or with any of our board members.
Find what makes you proud to be a Rotarian and make it happen.
Thank you. Yours in Rotary Service |
