Click to view image in actual size June 27th, 2012: Installation of New Officers
Members present were Dietrich Bilger, Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, Janice Brown, Candace Cramer, Jeannie Durkee, Walter Heller, Michael Johnson, Suzanne Kavanagh, Joe Kelley, Bart Nuboer, Joan Powers, Robert Schipul, Sandra Schipul, Janet Schmitz, Jack Stebe, Ben Summers, Lisa Tompson, and Bernie Westerveld. Family and friends present were Artonia Clifford, Lily Clifford, Sofia Clifford, Commander Edward F. Covell, Lorraine Covell, Pat Dugan, Reverend Dan Eddy, Berta Eddy, Samantha Ford, Karianne Golemme, Olivia Golemme, Rachael Golemme, Colleen Kelley, Karen Kelley, Mari Martelli, Pauline Pignard, and Beverly Westerveld.
The weekly meeting of Scituate Rotary was convened at 6:30 pm at The Scituate Country Club.

President Joe Kelley led The Pledge to The American Flag.

Third Grader, Sophia Clifford, beautifully sang The Star Spangled Banner.

Reverend Robert Schipul offered the Invocation.

Excitement was in the air as members and guests arrived in Country Western Attire, party balloons were floating throughout the room, and the dance floor was cleared and shining.  The handwriting was on the wall: this would be a night to remember!  But first, a few items of business.

The membership voted unanimously for Bernie Westerveld to assume the position of Club Treasurer.
An Installation Ceremony followed this affirmative vote, and Dietrich Bilger presented the new officers, President Joe Kelley, President Elect 2013/2014 Jack Stebe, Secretary Lois Brandes, Club Treasurer Bernie Westerveld and directors J.D. Miller and Howard Tufts.

Jeannie Durkee was given a Certificate of Thanks for her work as treasurer this past year.

Joe's acceptance speech was inspiring as he reiterated his vision for Scituate Rotary this year.  Joe introduced his friend, Scituate American Legion Commander, Edward F. Covell, who thanked Scituate Rotary for teaming with the Legion and cooperatively sending eight students to government school.

Joe reported that he and Karen had taken Dietrich with them to a meeting at Leominster Rotary.  Rotarians there are helping to sponsor Michael Kelley's School in Afghanistan.

And now, what we had all been waiting for: a delicious pasta dinner to honor Joe, and dancing the evening away with Party Planner, Stacy Smith.

A great evening with great friends!

Next Meeting:  Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at The Clubhouse at James' Landing.  Bring a dish!

Ciao!

Lois
