Last year the Club sent 55 boxes of school supplies and clothing to the children in Afghanistan. News articles tell us that groups are attempting to keep schools open (especially for girls) in Afghanistan despite the Taliban's aggressive attempts to close them. Our efforts are still needed to help supply the children with school supplies that are scarce in Afghanistan. 

From August through mid September we will be collecting school supplies at our regular meetings. Right now is the best time to purchase supplies as many stores great deals on prices. Meijer and Wal-Mart have the best deals that I have seen, but many other stores have deals as well. I hope that you will all continue to support the Club's efforts to help the children in Afghanistan.
