Club Meeting at Oakhaven Golf Club
Editor: Shatzer, Deb

The Rotary lunch-time meeting was held at Oakhaven Golf Club Monday, June 23. Golf Pro, Dave Christensen, from the "Guaranteed Golf" school explained some common myths golfers share regarding their golf swing.
Are you a "dip-and-flinch" golfer? According to Golf Pro, Dave Christensen, the biggest issue that keeps golfers from having a great golf swing is tension.

The tips most golfers receive from their golf partners such as "keep your head down" and "keep your eye on the ball," are likely not the primary problem with the swing. Most issues with a poor golf club swing stem from the golfer being tense which causes the golfer to raise the club during the swing even with eyes on the ball and keeping the head down. Golfers should have a smooth, even club radius when swinging at the ball. The practice swing may be really good because the golfer is more relaxed when not addressing the ball. Golf is a "motor skill," and practice helps build muscle memory.

When a golfer has a good shot, they usually say, "Why can't I do that every time?" Hence, they keep coming back for more.
