|The Rotary Club of Delaware recently selected Kara Long for its 2012 Paul Harris Community Service Award. Kara was nominated because of her significant contribution to Delaware through her dedicated efforts to make the Strand Theatre a community treasure. Under Kara’s direction, the Strand has been transformed into a place not only for entertainment but also for giving back to the community. Frequent patrons know that Long has worked tirelessly to engage moviegoers with opportunities to support a worthy cause. Whether it is a blood drive, collecting food for local agencies, offering free programs for children or dozens of other activities, the Strand has become an integral part of helping others. Her leadership has demonstrated that giving back is good for Delaware and good for business.

Long war nominated for the award by Debbie Shatzer, and President Santos presented the award to Long at a club meeting on Monday, July 9, 2012.
