Pie-Eating Championship
In the News

What a gloriously, deliciously sweet and sticky event! The excitement was high as Southwest Houstonians of all ages became "Pie Piranhas" for a brief moment, abandoning conventional manners and going for the gusto at the Fish Fry Festival! Festival Chair Nan Wagoner crowned AARON DEUTMEYER (lower right in photo above) Bellaire Southwest Houston 2007 Senior Pie-Eating Champ, and following the senior contest, crowned little AUSTIN CHASE (middle right in photo) as the Junior Pie-Eating Champ! Winners, received Rice University baseball tickets, Rice baseball caps, and Rice baseball championship banners courtesy of Jon Holverson of Bayou City Properties, as well as gift certificates from The Pie Factory for even MORE yummy pie to eat at their leisure. Winners were determined by who ate the most pie in 60 seconds.

Our winners' ascent to the Pie Royalty Throne was marked by framed PIE-CHAMP certificates, blue ribbons, Festival Tee Shirts, and shiny crowns. SARAH CLARKE took second place in the senior division, and a special award was made to our tiniest contestant, who shed a few tears because he wanted to eat chocolate pie instead of lemon meringue!
