CENTERVILLE ROTARY HAPPENINGS --
by Dan E. Sortman

Greeters This Week: Lee Hieronymus (Need Sub-Out of Country) & Rick Terhune

Greeters Next Week: Steven Hinshaw & Brad Thorp

We had a good turnout last week with 50 Rotarians and guests at the meeting, and we were treated to a very nice steak lunch.  Our speaker was Dr. Frank James of James Investments with one of his sons and another associate discussing their Economic Outlook for 2010.  The overall perspective was that there is a 10% chance that economy will improve significantly, a 60% chance that the economy will bounce along the bottom with little growth, and a 30% chance the economy will drop further into recession than current levels.  Frank discussed how our "melting dollar" is boosting exports for Ohio which have been on the increase every year since 1998.  However, the "melting dollar" is causing homes and commerical property to loose value with commercial property down as much as 43% in some areas.  The advisors also noted the major differences between the Obama Administration policies of more taxes, more government, more regulations, and more money growth vs. the Regan policies of the last major recession which were exactly opposite including tax cuts, less government, remove regulations, and low money growth.
Eventually the current recession will have positive effects such as stonger reserves among businesses and healthy caution among investors.

The club pays for 50 meals each week whether we actually use that many meals or not, so bring friends or associates that might be interested in Rotary or hearing our speaker to the meetings.  We will not charge you for a guest if you list them on the visitor list as a prospective member.

Member news:  Jim Landsidel is at Kettering Memorial Hospital after a fall and some complications afterward.  John Callendar has received Paul Harris Fellow #4.  Mae Berkel has received Paul Harris #3 donating book proceeds from her recent book publication.  Rand Oliver received 2 Paul Harris Fellows.  Robin Parker became the only Level 4 donor in the 6670 District for the Rotary Polio Plus Campaign - Thanks so much to all these Rotarians!

Forgetter Be Forgotten?
by Dan E. Sortman

M y forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke

F
or when I'm 'here' I'm wondering
If I really should be 'there'
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!

O
ft times I walk into a room,
Say 'what am I here for?'
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.

A
t times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!

W
hen shopping I may see someone,
Say 'Hi' and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, 'who the hell was that?

Y
es, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.
