Prime Minister Gayle and First Squire Ed lead a group of Rosarians to the Spokane Lilac Festival May 16 to 19. Your fellow Rosarians took Rosie the bus, traveled in luxury and enjoyed the fellowship of fellow Rosarians.

This is the Lilac Festival's 75th Festival! So they are our little sister;  Saturday night was the nation's largest Armed Forces Torch Light Parade! We proudly participated in it with our float! Photo below was taken by Lady Marie Saturn.

The Rosarian turnout was spectacular for this traditional event in North Portland. The parade started at noon and the Rosarians showed up looking all crisp and chipper and ready for a parade. It was a fun, easy march and Rosarians gathered afterward for lunch and a great social hour.  This Photo was taken by Squire Bob Battaglia.

We boarded "Rosie" the Bus and attended the first sanctioned out-of-town trip led by Prime Minister Gayle.  All of your Rosarian friends attended a fun filled weekend at the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival. The "Happy Days" themed Friday night dinner was followed with an easy downhill march in the Saturday parade.  Saturday night's formal event "Music of Night Masquerade" capped off the amazing weekend.    As you can see in this Photo, First Squire Ed Whitehurst is "puttin on the Ritz", with his Top hat and Tails, adding a special touch of class to the 2013 Float.  Our Float won the Golden apple award.  Photo by Sir Knight Brent Barnett

The Blessing of the Festival took place Saturday. April 20th.  The tradition of the ceremony, and the participation of so many Rosarians and members of our sister organizations came to this event.  The event was well attended and we were introduced to the 2013 Rose Festival Court.  Photo by Sir Knight Bill Barry.

HOUSTON WE HAVE TOUCH DOWN!!!!

In the shadow of mighty NASA rockets Royal Rosarians lead by Prime Minister Gayle Whitehurst planted the rose Veteran's Honor.  Shown with the golden shovel adding soil is Robert Cabana, the director of the Kennedy Space Center while Royal Gardener Adam Baker steadies the bush.
Prime Minister Whitehurst planted the rose in a special ceremony in appreciation of 50 years of dedicated service by the Kennedy Space Center employees.  Molly Bauck, President of the first rose society in America; the Portland Rose Society stands by to add the "Royal Water", to aid the rose in growing to fruition and honoring the efforts of the KSC employees.

On a chilly but dry February 8th morning, 25 Royal Rosarians lead by Prime Minister Gayle Whitehurst caused a rose to be planted for Portland’s new Mayor Charlie Hales.  For over 100 years the Royal Rosarians have been planting roses around the world to honor such worthy individuals.  Accompanied by his wife Nancy, Mayor Hales was all smiles as the rose “Royal Rosarian” was planted in his honor.  The rose was watered in with royal water by Portland Rose Society President Molly Bauch.  2010 Rose Festival Queen Victoria Dinu was also on hand to present Portland's new mayor with a Rose Society calendar for 2013.

Prior to the rose planting Mayor Hales and wife Nancy invited the Royal Rosarian Council to the Rose Room for coffee and cookies.
