Attorneys Kate McChrystal and Peter Wyant shared their insight with members about how the divorce court might address inherited assets.  Topics included appreciation and income from inherited assets, maintenance, property division, tracing and mixing.  Marital property law ought to be on the forefront of every planners mind when helping clients plan.

Attorney Kate McChrystal--- Gagne & O'Halloran LLC

TELEPHONE (414) 273-5551

Attorney McChrystal graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2010. During law school she interned for Judge Michael J. Dwyer in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court Family Division as well as clerked for a Wisconsin family law firm. Those experiences solidified her interest in family law, her sole area of practice.

Prior to attending law school, Attorney McChrystal worked as a teacher educating children at preschool, grade school, and middle school levels. Her background working with children and her familiarity with the complicated issues surrounding children’s special education and developmental needs is an asset to any case involving children, but especially those with the potential for complex child custody issues.

Attorney McChrystal has also participated in the Marquette Small Claims Mediation Clinic and completed coursework in mediation, negotiation, and dispute resolution. Whether a client’s case trajectory is collaborative divorce, mediation, negotiation, or litigation, Attorney McChrystal believes that each client deserves a competent, creative advocate. The goal is to proceed through an action with class and efficiency. Attorney McChrystal’s focus is an empathetic approach incorporating strong statutory and financial knowledge and creative problem solving.

Attorney McChrystal is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Association of Women Lawyers, the Leander J. Foley Matrimonial Inns of Court, and FUEL Milwaukee. She is also the President of the Junior Board of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin and a member of the Marquette Law School Board of Recent Graduates.
