However, the Rotary Club decided to continue selling raffle tickets over the week-end and to donate that money to the Northfield/Roxbuy flood vicitims. It was a great success and we want to thank everyone for supporting our community! | | Posted by Marsha Hoffman on May 03, 2011 A warm round of applause and cheering for Nicole DiDomenico for being named District 7850 Rotarian of the Year and to Ally Manousos for being District 7850 Rotaracter of the Year at the District Conference this past weekend in Stowe! Their efforts over this past year with the PoP (Pusing Out Polio) campaign and the resulting starting of new Interact clubs in Northfield and Williamstown were monumental and worth a great cheer! Many, many congratulations to you both! | | Posted by Marsha Hoffman on Mar 24, 2011 The new Northfield High School Interact Club! | | Posted by Marsha Hoffman The Challenge: The Norwich University Rotaract Club invites interested Rotary Clubs within District 7850, to participate in challenging local schools in and around Central Vermont to fundraise $1,955 per school towards Rotary International's Polio Plus Challenge. Their goal is to have at least 10 schools accept this challenge and collectively raise nearly $20,000. To learn more, or to schedule a presentation of this proposal at your club's next meeting, contact: Nicole DiDomenico, President-Elect/Norwich University Rotaract Advisor of the Northfield Rotary Club.
Why Polio? In 1985, Rotary created PolioPlus -- a program to immunize all the world’s children against polio by 2005 -- Rotary’s centennial. PolioPlus is one of the most ambitious humanitarian undertakings made by a private entity ever. It will serve as a paradigm for private/public collaborations in the fight against disease well into the next century.
Rotary’s PolioPlus program is a shining example of the achievements made possible by cooperation between the United Nations and non-governmental organizations. Kofi Annan, Secretary General, United Nations | | Posted by Harley Jordan Looking for ways to meet more neighbors, network with other Central Vermonters, and help people in need in your community and around the world? Consider the Rotary Club of Northfield!
Through Rotary you can be a part of a global organization committed to world peace, working toward the goal of one community at a time. Rotary International has been a driving force in the eradication of polio and now is working to alleviate other pressing issues in the poorest regions of the world. |
