Stories

On Friday, April 28th, members from the Rotary Club of Mandarin joined with Junior Achievement to teach classes of 7th graders on credit, finance, insurance and other economic issues.  Club member Rita Story sets this event up for our members annually.  Rita sets the bait to members saying that Junior Achievement supplies everything, all Rotarians need to do is show up and teach.  What our Rotarians don't realize is just how difficult being a 7th grade teacher really is.  While the Rotarians taught from 11am until just after 3pm with minimal 2 minute breaks, our professional teachers do this each and every day.  Thank you to all Rotarians who gave up a day or work, or retirement, to hopefully connect with these 7th graders.

The Rotary Club of Mandarin was recently named a Premier Club at the District Conference.  Only 5 Clubs were chosen as as either Premier or Platinum Premier Clubs.  To qualify, clubs had to meet a long list of standards set forth by District Governor Clint Dawkins.  Congratulations to all members of the Rotary Club of Mandarin as this award is truly won by all members.  We have always been the Friendliest Club in District 6970.  Now we are the the Friendliest "Premier" Club in teh District as well.  Congratulations.

In addition to being named a Premier Club at the District Conference, our inbound exchange student, Nina Lobeto was awarded "Exchange Student of the Year" for the District.  Of course, nobody in our club was surprised.  Nina, from Switzerland, is an excellent student and just an all around terrific inbound.  Congratulations Nina!

What if we stopped at 99%?

Would Mr. Gorbachev torn down the Berlin Wall?

Would Neil Armstrong have stepped on the moon?

Think about it.  We are 99% of the way to completely eradicating Polio.  You can make a difference.  Contribute to the Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus campaign and help us make that last 1%.
