We draw to a close the Sierra Vista Rotary 2011 calendar year with a full house at the meeting, the announcement of the slate for next year's board and a tremendous presentation by Brigadier General Gregg C. Potter, Commanding General, US Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca.  I could not think of a better way to end the year.  We toast the accomplishments of 2011 and we look forward to 2012!  Please read more about the meeting below!  And our thanks to Edward Bottomley for the adjacent Holiday picture!

December is month in which we emphasize the importance of Families.  As RI President Kalyan Banerjee writes, "The first of our emphases in this Rotary year is the family, because the family is where everything begins. It is where life begins, it is where our day begins, and it is where our Rotary service must begin. As our club has done for many years, members delivered backpacks filled with school supplies to childen in Agua Prieta.  International Chair Kevin Peterson,his wfe Patricia, member Angeles Emory and her husband Jeff delivered the packpacks on August 22!  Additional photos can be found in the photo album marked "Backpacks"!  Thanks Kevin, Patricia and all for helping in one of Rotary's area of focus, childhood literacy!

On Monday, 27 June, then new board and President for the Sierra Vista Rotary club were installed.  Out of respect for those victims of the Monument Fire, the Installation Dinner planned for that evening was cancelled and instead the installation was conducted during the luncheon.  The new board members pledged their support to the members of the club.  Thanks for volunteering and we look forward to a great 2011-2012.

On Tuesday, 23 Nov, Rotarian Sarah Benge and Tim Cervantes led to effort of Cox Communications to cook and carve turkeys for the Salvation Army's annual community dinner, which will be Thursday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Thanks Tim and Sarah for your support to those in need!

On a very hot Saturday, members of the SV Noon Rotary club spent the day painting the house and shed for a member of the Fry community. John Spengler, Rick Meuller, Bob Schmig, Bill Blockhus-Morgan, and Mike Strange put a fresh coat of paint and smile on this deserving home-owner. Tim Quinn, Ruth Quinn, John Quinn also helped in this project with volunteers from the community. More photos of this June 5th project are in the photo album below!
