Please go to State Bank of the Lakes in Antioch. ***** LOCATION CHANGE****** | | Posted by Bret Mumenthaler The evening of September 1, 2011 at Lakes Community HS hosted over thirty District 117 Students and their parents discussing the opportunity that ROTARY INTRNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE has to offer. Students and parents asked questions of a panel, made up of: six Antioch Rotarians, four Rebound Students, one Inbound Student, two Short Term Students, one parent of an Outbound Student, parents of three Rebound Students and parents of a Short Term Student. The Antioch Rotary Club was impressed by the students and parents interest in Youth Exchange. Towards the end of the presentation the parents were asked which of them wanted to go on an exchange. Several raised their hand and were just as excited about the program as their son's and daughters. Currently there are seven students from School District 117 outbound as Ambassadors for the Antioch Rotary Club as well as themselves. Look for stories in the near future regarding the results of the Interview process and how the Antioch Rotary Club and Students from District 117 are impacting the world. | | Posted by Bret Mumenthaler on Mar 08, 2011 In an effort to get more people to read the web site. There may be a fine if you don't know the secret word. Rotarian's from all over the world celebrated Rotary New Orleans Style. A variety of musician's and guest speakers gave 30,000 attendees a great deal to be excited about while singing and speaking about what Rotary accomplished this past year. The highlight came when Bill Gates of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation spoke of the continuing efforts to eradicate Polio from this world. With the message (We are THIS Close) a reference to your thumb and pointing finger just an inch apart, Bill Gates encouraged Rotarian's NOT to quit. At the time of his speech, Rotary had raised $179,000,000 of the $200,000,000 the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had challenged Rotary to raise to add to the $355,000,000 their foundation has already given. Next year the Rotary International Conference is in Bangkok Thailand. |
