Malayaka House is a small, independent orphanage in Uganda that houses 24 children, yet reaches out beyond its walls to improve the lives of hundreds more impoverished, orphaned children in Uganda. Malayaka House is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Please join the Ludlow Rotary Club in their efforts to support these children.  We are collecting everyday items such as toothpaste and brushes, towels, bed linens, deodorant, children's books, water bottles, dish cloths and towels, nice tablecloths, reusable grocery bags and the list goes on.  Deadline is April 17th, 2012.  Please ask any Rotarian for further details.

April 28th, the Ludlow Rotary Club held our 56th Annual Penny Sale.  It was four rounds of fun with great prizes thanks to the continued support of our community; business and individuals alike!  And the big cash winner was Patty Rumrill - YEAH Patty!!  More details to follow . . . .

The Ludlow Rotary Club has provided scholarships to area collegiate and vocational students for more than 25 years.  The cost of secondary education is continuing to climb at a rapid pace and economic conditions require our young people to be more prepared than ever to compete in the marketplace.  This is an appeal for the public to supplement the traditional scholarship funds raised by the Ludlow Rotary Club each year.  These additional funds will allow the Ludlow Rotary Club to increase the scholarships awarded to area students in June of 2012.

Checks should be made payable to the LUDLOW AREA ROTARY CHARITABLE FUND, Inc., with SCHOLARSHIP FUND entered in the memo area of the check, and then mailed to:  Ludlow Rotary Club, PO Box 216, Ludlow, VT   05149.  The Ludlow Area Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc., was formed as a 501(c)(3) organization under the regulations of the IRS and, accordingly, all such scholarship donations are deductible for federal and state income tax purposes to the full extent permitted by law. The Ludlow Rotary Club will provide documentation for each donation to the scholarship fund.

With your help, more of our young people will be assisted in preparing for the challenging times ahead of them.   For more information, please call Brenda Clark at 228-2487.

The Ludlow Rotary Club recently raised nearly $2,800 for Vermont flood relief, which exceeded the locally-established goal of $1,000 by a wide margin.  The funds were raised through Rotary Club contributions, donations from its members and in response to a public appeal, and through donation boxes located through October at the Berkshire Bank, Heritage Family Credit Union and Java Baba’s and at the Ludlow Rotary Club’s Annual Chili Cook-off event held on October 8th.

In addition, the Ludlow Rotary Club’s sister club in Ludlow, England, donated $1,000 toward this effort.  Other Rotary Club’s in Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada also participated in this flood relief effort, thereby qualifying all of these funds for a very generous match by Rotary International, the world-wide organization of more than 1.2 business, professional, and community leaders.  Including this match, the aggregate funds to be made available for Vermont flood relief efforts are expected to be in the $200,000 to $250,000 range.

Ludlow Rotary Club President Mary Crowley was delighted with the results of this fund-raising effort, commenting that she “was pleasantly surprised that so many people chose to anonymously support Vermont flood relief by stuffing the donation boxes with larger denominations.”

Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.  Clubs are non-political, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races and creeds.  Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Any questions about the flood relief fundraising should be directed to club president, Mary Crowley at 802.281.2533.

Please note - the Board of Directors will meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month @ 12:15 @ FML.  Please bring your lunch.
