REMINDER:  Please complete the sales of your five (5) raffle tickets and give the ticket stubs and $50 cash or check (pay to Rotary Club of Colorado Springs) to Doug King at the next meeting.

Also, if you'd like more, Doug is also the go-to person and he will have extras at each Rotary meeting.

Thank you for your support!  It is critical to the success of this event.

ONLY A FEW WEEKS LEFT!  Butterflies and Friends needs your contributions. The most valuable items are restaurant gift certificates. The next time you’re out at your favorite restaurant, ask for a gift certificate. We could also use items to fill baskets such as wine, coffee, butterfly themed items, etc. Bring forth your donations and we’ll pass it forward for the good of the kids.  Remember, half of the proceeds raised by the auction go to D11 School art programs and the remaining proceeds go into our Service Fund. Contact Michelle Parvinrouh at mparvinrouh@gmail.com should you have any items you’d like to contribute. The last day to contribute is Friday, September 26th.  Thank you for helping to make a difference!

Our club's Global Grant Scholar, Benjamin Jourdan, has been serving as an intern with the United Nations in Bangkok, Thailand.  The internship will be complete at the end of this month and he will return to Cape Town to work on his dissertation.  Ben should complete his degree requirements by February 2015.

The attached photo shows Ben exchanging our club's banner when he visited the Bangkok South Rotary Club, the only English-speaking club in that area.

We have a terrific opportunity to support the Rotary Foundation through added giving and recognize new Paul Harris Fellows.  We are providing an incentive for you to add to your giving now.  If you are nearing the level of $1,000 for a first Paul Harris Fellow recognition, you can give now and we will match your gift with recognition points at a ratio of 2:1.  For every dollar you give we will add $2 in recognition points to your gift.  This has been approved by the board and the individuals involved.

If you have received a first Paul Harris Fellowship and are working towards the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th level (etc.) we will add recognition points at the ratio of 1:1.  For every dollar you give we will add a dollar’s worth of points to get you closer to your goal.

Please consider giving to the Rotary Foundation today and being able to award a Paul Harris Fellowship to yourself or someone else this year!  Please talk to or call Warren Hill to find out more.  He can answer questions on where you are now in total giving and what this offer can do for you.  What a great way to honor someone for “Service Above Self”.

Silent Auction
Here ye! Here ye!  Butterflies are fluttering around town, which means it’s silent auction time for this Rotary Club. Remember, all proceeds go directly to Rotary and to benefits school arts programs. Have a favorite restaurant. Next time you visit, ask them to make a donation. Bring it all forth and we’ll pass it forward for the good of the kids.  Contact Michelle Parvinrouh at mparvinrouh@yahoo.com should you have any donatable items you’d like to contribute. Deadline to secure donations is Friday, September 26th.

On Friday, August 8, the Club will meet Nicholas Baldwin, Greg Cichon and Alex LaPlante.  These 3 young men were our representatives at this year's RYLA camp in Glenwood Springs.  RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Award.  Our district RYLA weekend was held June 13-16 at the Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley Campus.

Please attend Rotary that day and hear what the next generation of potential Rotarians has to say about their experience.

From the club treasurer:
As a reminder, your July 1 dues payment should be received by the end of the month.  Please include a copy of the e-mailed invoice to insure proper posting.  If your business office makes payments, be sure they have this information.
Many thanks,
Harold Eichenbaum

Here ye! Here ye!  Butterflies are fluttering around town, which means it’s silent auction time for this Rotary Club.  Have a timeshare that needs using, a friend that has a quaint restaurant, unused electronics left over from the birthday you’re still pretending never happened, perhaps a lovely bottle of wine or a hard bottle of scotch. Bring it all forth and we’ll pass it forward for the good of the kids.  Contact Michelle Parvinrouh at mparvinrouh@yahoo.com should you have any donatable items you’d like to contribute.  Deadline to secure donations is Friday, September 26th.

Please plan on picking up your five raffle tickets for the Butterflies and Friends event before or after this Friday’s
Rotary meeting.  Envelopes are in alpha order on a table in the lobby.  After you sell the raffle tickets you may
give cash or check and raffle ticket stubs to Doug King, Ana Kasischke or Theresa Sidebotham.  There is an
expectation that each member of the club will sell at least five tickets.

Please contact Bob Holmes with any questions.

Big thanks to all the Rotarians and helpers who installed this year's group of butterflies around the city, especially Charlie Brown who organized it all.
