This past Saturday, April 12, we had our D5470 District Assembly to help our upcoming club leaders better understand their positions and responsibilities. Thanks to the following members for attending:
Dr. Carol Bach
Another District Assembly will be held on Saturday, May 3, in Grand Junction.
We only have 75 days remaining until the end of our Rotary year. Thanks to all of you who contribute to The Rotary Foundation in your regular statements and in other ways as well. If you were thinking of an end of Rotary year gift, please do so before June 15 so it will be credited in this Rotary year.
With the substantial amount of money earmarked in 2014-15 for District Grants and Global Grants, I hope some of you are considering ways for our Club to do great things through one or more of these grants. The application deadline for District Grants is June 15. There is no deadline for Global Grants.
Yours in Service,

Members of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs :
We have an opportunity to provide birthday presents for the young boys living in residential homes managed by Chins Up, Griffith Center for Children. These are children who have lost their families, been abused, or other reasons that caused them to be under the care of Chins Up, here in Colorado Springs. Barbara Ritchie, President/CEO of Griffith Center for Children/Chins Up spoke to our Club on March 28.
Without our help these kids probably wouldn’t receive birthday presents. There are about 4-5 birthdays per month. The staff at Chins Up will provide a list of birthdays and the “wish list” of the boy. If it is inconvenient for you to “shop”, Chins Up staff will purchase the gift and advise you of the cost. If you would be willing to participate in this program, please contact Jack Houser at firstname.lastname@example.org . Phone is 375-5741. A sign up sheet will also be circulated at our regular meetings. Thanks.
Jack Houser, Coordinator Kathleen Saltmarsh-Voss, Chair Community Service

During a recent Rotary lunch, club president, John Buckley presented Dr. Nick Gledich, D11 School Superintendent, a check for $21,344. The check resulted from the club's 2013 Butterflies and Friends fundraiser and accounted for half of the total proceeds from the fundraiser. The other half supports all of the club's Service Fund projects, including school dental programs, Diamond Awards, elementary school reading tutors, veteran programs and much more.
