Thanks to Local Merchants

 The merchants of Chester and Long Valley donated a wonderful selection of products to the Rotary Club for the District 7470 Conference basket auction. The proceeds will go to the Rotary Foundation and will help with education, clean water, health care, and other great projects with one of the largest charitable foundations in the world. Please buy from these businesses whenever possible and especially at the Farmers Market this summer.

 Used Bicycle Collection was a great success.

The Rotary Clubs of Chester-Long Valley and West Orange collaborated with Pedals for Progress to collect used bicycles on May 12.  Thirty-two bicycles and $320 were received to be sent to Guatemala so disadvantaged people can use them for small business and for going to school.  Special thanks to Long Valley's Cycle Craft for donating 11 bikes!   We also would like to say thanks to the Washington Township BOE for the  use of  the LVMS lot.

A Long History for Chester-Long Valley Rotary

The Rotary Club of Chester-Long Valley was chartered in June of 1946.  A scan of the historic bulletin from the club's charter night is available on the left side menu under downloads.  You are welcome to view the pages and see if anyone who was among the first members is someone from your own family or friends.  If you have a story about them and would like to share it, we would appreciate an email from you.  Our history is important for Rotary and the local community.
 Food Collection for Chester and Long Valley Food Pantries
 The Rotary Club of Chester-Long Valley enjoyed the opportunity to serve our communities on February 4th by collecting food and money donations at the ShopRite of Chester.  ShopRite was gracious to allow us 4 hours to receive the kind donations of shoppers that morning.  40 boxes of food and over $190 were collected for the two pantries.  Seen below are members Bill McGuire and Cheryl Moncrief participating in the event.

Chester-Long Valley Rotary donated a new Garmin GPS to the Chester First Aid Squad on October 24th.  This Garmin Oregon 450t Handheld GPS is an example of how the Rotary club contributes to the community welfare through its fundraising activities.  During the summer and fall, the club has raised the money for the Garmin GPS through the Farmer's Market, Fall Festival bake sale, scarecrow contest, and the sale of 50/50 tickets.  Image

3rd: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;
4th: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
