Calling all Rotarians into action!!!  Only 8 days left before Post time!  All Rotarians should be promoting and supporting "Evening at the Races", April 12th, at Celebrations Banquet Center II.  "Celebrity Emcee" is the always entertaining Jim Bucher.  Download the promotional flyer by logging in to our website and clicking "Club Documents".  Contact Rotarians Rhonda Rhoades and Doug Arp for information, sponsorship opportunities and tickets.  Also, please keep Rhonda advised on the status of your sales: rhonda.rhoades@rbjergens.com. Sooner...the better, as we need to pull information together for printing Race Programs.

A lot to get done and counting on each Rotarian to help make this happen!

Sammy Granizo, our Club's 2012 exchange student from Ecuador, visited our club meeting on March 27.  She will be in Vandalia until April 11 as a guest of Rotarian Jim Baker and wife Janie.  Sammy is enjoying a 3 month break from her studies of International Business at University Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Ecuador.

She spent Wednesday afternoon at the Dayton Mall with Bev & Tom Baldasare.  U.S. prices are much lower than in Ecuador, so she was stocking up!  Fun photos ("Sammy Does Dayton Mall"), are posted on the club's website.  She says her younger brother is also participating in the Youth Exchange program, but doesn't yet know where he'll go.  Hope more Rotarians have a chance to interact with Sammy during her visit.

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.  Our sponsored Interact Club draws from the Butler High School student body.  The "Counselor" is Kelly Mahoney who teaches at the high school.  Richard Herbst, Vocational Service Director, provides guidance and support.  Interactors develop a network of friendships and learn the importance of Developing leadership skills and personal integrity, Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work, Advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Kelly Mahoney

Kelly reports:  "We are still working on the collection for the food pantry.  We will be ready to give a check by the end of March.  Also, we are starting to plan activities for April.  One of them includes a "Spring Formal" at the Crossroads Nursing Home.  It should be fun!!"
