Meeting came to order 12:15. Opened by Len Kiczek with the salute to the flag led by Al Peskoe, followed by the prayer given by Paul Peacock. Attendees: Al Peskoe, Jack Kearns, Ken Gittell, Len Kiczek, Margo Vazquez, Michael Ciavolino, Michael Hon, Michael Hayes, Patricia Binkowski, Paul Dement, Paul Peacock, Ted Friedli. Agenda; Len asked Paul Peacock to report on the “adventures of the Cruise” with everyone. . Weather was a little rough, but everyone faired “well”. When someone asked Paul Peacock “did you dance?’ He replied: I literally “ROCKED AND ROLLED THE WHOLE TIME”. About 156 Rotarians and spouse attended. Ship held about 3200 people including cruise employees. Census was it was enjoyed by all. Paul Peacock also shared with the group that 24 students applied for the yearly scholarships. 3 Recipients’ were chosen by the board from Shore Regional High School and Long Branch High School. Paul also mentioned the Rotary has been involved in a District Water Project in Lima, Peru for a few years now. This year we were able to forward that project a check from the Rotary in the amount of $ 250.00. Paul reiterated the conditions in which the people live there is quite sad and was happy to see the check was approved and sent. Michael Hon gave details of Art Auction/Sales the Rotary will be hosting June 13, 2012 at Deal Country Club. The entry fee is $65.00. Event starts at 6:00. See Michael for additional details. Any help would be welcomed that night. Our guest speaker this week was Ted (RJ) Rustowick from Shore Flicks. Shore Flicks is a company that entertains Outdoor Movies. These movies can be set up almost anytime/anywhere. The screen is a “blowup screen” to be displayed outside where current movies are viewed. From 50 to 500 people at a time can view this screen. Rentals and setups of these screens can be obtained by contacting the company. Shore Flicks has been in existence for 4 years. Len mentioned a board meeting is due however time and date TBD. Len wished all the mothers a “Happy Mother’s Day” Michael Hon announced next Happy Hour is at Sally T’s, Wednesday, 5/16, 5-7pm . 156 Rotarians and guests from District 7500 attended the 2012 District Conference on the Caribbean Cruise Lines Explorer of the Seas from April 21st to April 26th. The cruise to Bermuda was very enjoyable for all who attended despite the high winds and heavy seas. In addition to the informative District meetings, considerable time was available for fellowship with Rotarians from other clubs throughout the District.

Paul Peacock was awarded the following awards: 1. The Rotary District 7500 PDG James M. Davidson “Service Above Self Award” for being the Rotarian who best exemplifies the motto of “Service Above Self” to the Rotary Foundation. 2. A Paul Harris Fellow sapphire pin in recognition of achieving the second level of giving to the RI Foundation.

Pledge of Allegiance: Al Pescoe Invocation: Paul Peacock Past President Gordon, welcomed the Speaker Chief of Police for Ocean Township Steven Peters, and guest Kathy Gifford. Announcements: The Marathon will be held on Sunday 5/6/2012 Volunteers needed Kick Cancer Overboard cruise will be on 5/19/2012 –Book soon space is limited or donate! Chief Peters joined the department in August 1987. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1997 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2005. He has served as a supervisor in various units of the police department during his career including the Patrol Bureau, Traffic Bureau, Administrative Division and Criminal Investigation Bureau. He has been assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit since 2006. Chief Peters holds a Bachelors Degree from Wagner College and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the New Jersey Certified Public Manager program. Chief Peters talked about the challenges that law enforcement faces in today’s world of terroristic threats. Presidents announcements: Len encouraged the members to visit other clubs for make-ups. The Rotary club of Asbury is holding a Wine Tasting at Deal Golf and Country Club Friday May 18th The Board meeting will be held on Tuesday May 1st 6pm at Investors Bank The speaker for Friday is Steve Peters the Chief of Ocean Township Police Dept. Jack Kearns spoke about the great time we all had at the Dinner and a Movie night. The food was great at Plan B and the movie “Salt of the earth” was quite funny. The military discourages the use of tobacco, but the reality is that the soldiers are asking for it.
