wh-4p-olThe Rotary Club of Bairnsdale

Founded in 1938, the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale has been actively supporting worthy local, national and international causes for more than 70 years.

The club was at the forefront of moves to establish the first kindergarten and baby health centre in Bairnsdale, back in the 1940s. In the decades since we have been involved in a host of community projects including the installation of gazebos at Bairnsdale Cemetary and the provision of a much-used kiosk in Nicholson Street Mall.

We help fund the provision of specialist equipment for Bairnsdale Hospital and provide ongoing financial and administrative assistance to Rotary Centenary House. This is a cancer patient and family support facility in Traralgon benefiting East Gippsland residents.

We have provided fundraising and hands-on support for Flood & Bushfire relief and have been actively involved in a number of overseas initiatives. The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale also assists schools and students in relation to awards, scholarships and leadership camps.

ImageSwifts Creek Secondary College student Rika Eringa was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale to attend a prestigious National Youth Science Forum in Canberra in January 2012.

This is the only program of its kind in Australia and gives specially selected Year 12 students the opportunity to test-drive a wide range of courses and careers in the sciences.

ImageThe Rotary Club of Bairnsdale helped bring a brighter Christmas to a number of local families by donating Christmas puddings and a cheque for $500 to the East Gippsland Mother Christmas Appeal.

This annual appeal, coordinated by UnitingCare Gippsland, provides food hampers and children’s gifts to families referred by community service organisations. People living on their own also benefit.

Bairnsdale Rotarians also conducted some festive fundraising by selling Christmas cakes and puddings locally, with the proceeds going to a number of worthy community projects over the coming months.
