On Thursday, September 29, the Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Russia 2220 will visit the Andover club as part of their month long excursion to the United States. GSE teams have always been an important and highly valued part of our district activities. As future leaders of their societies the GSE team members are contributing to one of Rotary´s most important objectives — promote peace and understanding in the world. If interested in attending please join us at Terradyne Country Club at 12:00 PM.

The Andover Rotary Club recently teamed up with Timbuktu as well as the Fire and Iron motorcycle club towards hosting "The Ride"  this year in Andover.  The Ride is a fundraising effort coordinated by Michelle Sell with Timbuktu to raise funds for The Andover Police and Fire Foundation, the families of 9-11 victims, and for a fire science sholarship offered by the Fire and Iron club.

With over 300 registered riders taking part in the 100 mile route through Butler County the event was a resounding success.  With the proceeds from the event going to three local and national charities, "The Ride" will have a positive impact for those in need not only in Andover and Butler County but across many states.  A memorable and fun event for our club to participate it, we appreciate the opportunity that Michelle and Timbuktu brought to our attention.

Next year we just have to get Ron Kutter to participate as a rider...that or "borrow" his Harley for the event (shhh, nobody tell him).

Being a Rotarian has meant many things to many members. Getting involved in Service projects inour community, International projects and so on have made our club a vibrantand, I hope, an effective club. What I want to mention here, though, is the camaraderie that developsamong members as a result of those activities. To be more specific, I want to talk about our golfoutings.

The mission of Rotary is why I belong to this great organization.  From the 4-way test we recite each week, to the countless lives that have been impacted by Rotary’s programs, to the sense of giving back to man-kind, I embrace this mission and want it to live on.

Being surrounded by others who have this shared feeling is awesome.  These fellow Rotarians, whether in my town or on the other side of the globe, are connected to me by Rotary’s cause and our shared values.
