Congratulations to our very own Michelle Schaefer who was honored as Rotarian of the Year by District Governor Moush Tourian.  We are so proud of you!

Michelle Schaefer has been named the District Governor Nominee Designate; she will serve as District Governor of Rotary District 5750 in 2014-15.  Michelle has been a member of the Rotary Club of Northwest Oklahoma City since 2000,where her classification is Insurance Agent. She has served as president of her club, has twice been named their Member of the Year, and is a Sustaining Member, an eight time Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Paul Harris Society.

She has also served as District Trainer and Assistant District Governor for District 5750,and was the 2010 GSE Team Leader to Italy. She is currently the Membership Chair for the district, as well as the 2012 District Conference Chair.

Northwest OKC Rotary Club is a growing club that focuses on Service Above Self! Being a Rotarian is not just about going to a weekly meeting, although that is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians.  It about serving the communiy through fundraising and philanthropy. 

The meetings are fun and exciting with excellent and varied speakers and presentations from local scholars to local non-profits.  Currently, we meet every Tuesday at noon at the Green's Country Club in the Green's neighborhood off 122nd.  Our meetings last an hour.  Perfect for your lunch time!  

Besides our weekly meeting, we like to fellowship with Rotarian from other clubs in our District 5750.  There are several opportunities to meet other Rotarians through district events.  We also support each other's fundraising efforts.  As far as our own fundraising, we put on two big fundraisers a year - one at Christmas time and one at Easter.  We put on a picture booth at Northpark Mall with Santa and the Easter Bunny with each respective holiday.  This has proven to be very successful in raising tens of thousands of dollars that we then return to the community through grants to various non-profits.

 We don't just raise money...  We also give back through community service by cleaning area parks, volunteering for local food banks, and by supporting local events such as the Village Fun Fair in the fall. 

We invite you to visit our Club and have lunch on us!  We are continuing to grow and are always seeking new members.  If you are interested, please visit one of our meetings. 

Each year, the Northwest Oklahoma City Rotary Club asks area high schools to choose a few top leaders to visit our Club's meetings and participate in our community service projects.  This is an opporunity for high school students to get to know business professionals from various fields and to demonstrate Service Above Self for the betterment of our community.

Our NW OKC Rotarians have been traveling far and wide and meeting Rotarians everywhere!

Indu Singh recently visited Spain and had a chance to attend one Rotary meeting in Barcelona. She really enjoyed her visit to the
Barcelona Rotary Cub. There was a formal introduction and flag exchange.
