Logan MacGillvray from Bedford Nova Scotia, was a keynote speaker at the recent District 7820 Conference, at the Westin, in Halifax.. Logan is the Founder of “Listen to the Children: A Journey of Sharing” Charity.  Logan has received multiple awards both locally and abroad since he started working with cdpeace.

Logan started working with cdpeace when he was 10 years old in 2008. Inspiring others to realize they can make a difference, Logan has campaigned across Canada and beyond to support children in Sierra Leone. With the guidance of cdpeace, Logan worked with many volunteers to ship two 40-foot containers filled with building, school supplies and sport equipments. Logan depicts this journey in a short documentary/music video and he is now raising funds to build a multi-purpose Centre for children at the cdpeace headquarters in Mayagba , Sierra Leone. Logan’s documentary “Listen to the Children” can be viewed at http://www.listentothechildren.net/

Most, if not all, of the Rotary Clubs across District 7820  answered the $100 per club challenge raised at the District Conference a few weeks ago in Hlaifax.

The following information just arrived from an excellant source.

Perhaps you've heard that the RI website is being redesigned.  It will be much different from the current site.  In fact, there will be two sites.

The first site, the familiar rotary.org site, will be directed toward non-Rotarians.  Of course, Rotarians will be encouraged to have a look at it from time to time, but it will be largely a PR effort.

The second site will be: http://www.rotary.org/myrotary.  This site will be specifically for Rotarians.  It will require password access (just as Member Access does now) and will contain all the documents, forms, etc. that we're accustomed to using.  I've seen it only in beta test form, but it looks really good.

Target date for rollout of the new sites is 1 August.

During Australia’s colder months, emergency shelters often fill to capacity. Many homeless people searching for a warm bed are turned away, handed a piece of cardboard and a blanket for the night.

Rotary International

Thank you, Australia! Its government will provide $80 million from 2015 to 2018 to help finish the job and achieve worldwide polio eradication.

It was Australia's Sir Clem Renouf who, as president of Rotary International in 1978 and 1979, led the international campaign to vaccinate every child against polio. As a result of these early efforts by Rotary, the global community came together in 1988 to launch the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

According to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, more than 2.9 billion people worldwide have been affected by disasters since 2000. How can we assist communities immediately following a disaster? What type of support does Rotary provide to help resurrect devastated regions?

On March 14, 2013, I and my grandson Cameron arrived in Douala, Cameroon from Canada. Our Rotary mission had many purposes, we intended to complete a Polio immunization clinic, review a recent school bus project, see progress or completion of eleven Primary school latrines and hand over much needed school books to these schools.  My secondary mission was to impart in Cameron the Rotary spirit of giving Service to others so he may continue in the work D7820 started in 2003.  I also intended to bring back other projects which our District clubs may participate in.
