| | Posted by Sonam Choeden on Feb 21, 2012 On Behalf of Rotary Club of Toronto, Forest Hill, We like to convey many Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Moore's for opening their heart and soul for this event to be success and to everyone who had attend and support!
A short summary of last week Moore's Game Night: everyone enjoyed some time together chatting and playing ping pong, roulette and scrabble. Milo was the roulette master and taught many of us the ropes - lots of fun and a little raised for the club. Michael B. was the liveliest player who hedged his bets so well that he neither won nor lost. The ping pong game of the night was between Milo (who hadn't played in 50 years but you'd never know it) and Dianne, whose lightening serve and corner shots eventually resulted in a narrow win over Milo. We had great snacks as well as pizza, and raised over $ 400 for the president's ball! Dianne and Jim were great hosts and put a lot of work into stocking the fridge with drinks and providing snacks. The party room in their condo was a perfect venue and is being considered as a venue for our club, and etc could be posible.
This picture speaks for itself :)

Presenter: Kwesi Johnson started making a difference when he was just 12 years old by volunteering at basketball camp. He didn't stop there. To this day, he continues to help young people - especially those who don't have every advantage - and works with his local church and recreation centre in Toronto organizing activities and holding mentoring workshops. Ryerson University understands Kwesi's passion for reaching out to people in the community. That's why after graduating from the Child and Youth Care program he was awarded the prestigious Ryerson Gold Medal for his combination of outstanding academic achievements and contributions to community and university life. He also received the province-wide Lincoln M. Alexander Award for his outstanding leadership in eliminating racial discrimination. Kwesi is now in the process of completing his Master's Degree in Sociology in Education and sees himself as a future teacher or principal mentoring youth. He has worked in various roles with Parkdale Golden Age Foundation and POINT (People and Organizations in North Toronto) for the past 5 years.
Hope to see you all at the meeting.
