| Posted by David O'Neil on May 11, 2011 Welcome to our Rotary Club! Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self. Come join us for breakfast at MAE'S Cafe each Friday morning from 0700-0800. We would love to share the Rotary experience with you, and by the way the food is fabulous! The cost for breakfast is $8.00. | | Posted by David O'Neil on May 13, 2011 The Sunrise Club met at the Bath Regional Vocational Center this morning and was treated to a world class culinary breakfast! Each year the Sunrise Club meets at the BRVC to experience the dinning and cooking of the students participating in the Culinary Arts Program. As always the food is fabulous and the students get an opportunity to share with the Rotarians why they enjoy studying in the culinary arts program. This was also an opportunity to recognize Brittany Moffatt a student in the culinary arts program who is this years Emily McMann and Ethel MacNeil Culinary Arts Scholarship recipient. This scholarship is awarded each year by the Sunrise Club to a student in the culinary arts program who is going on to further their education in culinary arts. Brittnay was highly recommended by her teacher’s and will be continuing her education at Southern Maine Community College (SMCC). Brittany will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship toward her education. Presenting Brittany with her certificate is Sunrise President Dave O’Neil. | | Posted by David O'Neil on May 10, 2011 The Bath Sunrise Rotary Group conducted its annual yard sale fundraiser in conjunction with Mayfair. The weather was perfect and the turnout was exceptional. Garages and attics were cleared and many old items found a new home. After all the wheeling and dealing was over all the extra merchandise was donated to a local nonprofit group. $500.00 of the money raised through this effort was donated to the Mid Coast area Red Cross in support of the recent house fires which has displaced several families. Connie Jones the executive Director of the Red Cross was on hand to receive a check presented by club President Dave O'Neil and President Elect Al Mesrobian. | | Posted by David O'Neil on May 11, 2011 William Shuttleworth was recently a guest speaker at the Sunrise Rotary. superintendent Shuttleworth gave an overview of what has been going on in RSU 1 and what the future challenges are ahead.
