The Honorable Gerry Connolly, member of the US House ofRepresentatives and honorary member of the Rotary Club of Burke is our speakerthis morning.

Nell Hurley, candidate for Fairfax County SchoolBoard from Braddock District was our speaker. Nell, a retired USN captain and President of the Woodson PTSO, said thatthere is a need to empower our community, giving us greater voice and choicesin deciding what’s best for our local schools, and expanding excellence in thesystem with efficiency.  She feels thatwe need to engage the total community including teachers, principals, taxpayersand students. Her presentation generated an active Q&A follow-up.
