having a Energy/Rest Stop in downtown Puyallup and the Pierce County Fair

successful. The YMCA and Puyallup Communities in Schools were also championing
an effort for school age children called 40 Developmental Assets.
We funded the training for staff from Stahl Jr. High

2007-08,
President; Scotty Getchell
2008-09,
President; Chanel Studebaker
Chanel banged in her year with a custom made gavel
from her Dad. The gavel’s wood came from a cherry tree she had played in
as a girl. Whether through a flaw in the wood or merely overuse, the
gavel cracked in month 3 of her term. Chanel’s term represented year 4 of
a 5 year continuity plan put together by past president Jon Engels. That
plan restructured our club and its activities to build for the future. In
2008, Puyallup Rotary joined with the other Pierce County area Rotary clubs to
provide support to the Courage Classic bike race, which raises money for the Mary
Bridge Child Sexual Assault Center. Also during Chanel’s year, the Oyster
Stew feed became the Crab and Oyster Stew feed, with all you can eat Dungeness
added to the menu.
2009-10,
President; Don Thompson
By far the most significant thing that we
accomplished in my year was the completion of “The Rotary Stage in Pioneer
Park”. The stage was completed in time for the summer concert series and
was dedicated at the first event.
We provided volunteers for the inaugural City Blast
5-K race.
We hosted the inaugural Puyallup Salvation Army
Kettle Clash fund raiser.
After the success with our crab feed the Puyallup
Fair asked for the clubs assistance with the Puyallup fair crab feed featuring
the crew of the time bandit from the deadliest catch.
2011-12,
President; Blair Sexton
