Members enjoyed an informative presentation by Paul Carro, a member of Rolling Thunder, Inc., at the weekly meeting on May 9 at Giovanna's Restaurant.
Paul spoke about the plight of our service women and men who are Prisoners of War or Missing in Action. In particular, he encouraged members and friends to contact our Senators and Representatives about Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, America's only known POW in Afghanistan. Captured by the Taliban in June, 2009, Sgt. Bergdahl is believed to be held in Pakistan. Rolling Thunder advocates for POW/MIA service women and men, and actively seeks the U.S. governments cooperation in achieving freedom for Sgt. Bergdahl in any discussions with the Taliban. Rolling Thunder sponsors a weekend trip to Washington, D.C. each year to bring attention to POW/MIA service people and to the needs of veterans from all wars and conflicts. The trip is a cavalcade of motorcycles and other vehicles with a program near the Korean Memorial on Sunday, May 27. More information is available on Rolling Thunder's website, www.rollingthunder1.com or by clicking here. |

Students and teachers are asked to donate simple items such as mac’n’cheese or small cereal boxes. Boxes for donations are in every high school homeroom, and each homeroom teacher has a complete list of items suitable for the project.
