Juneau's newest gun range provides the opportunity to shoot guns indoors with five indoor lanes.  How fun is that? They offer gun safety courses as well, so people of all ages can learn to handle guns in a safe, responsible manner.  Dan Holt has coordinated a tour for our weekly lunch, August 20th, so we can see the new facility!  So, bring your earplugs, and come along.  It is sure to be a blast!  That lasts.... ?

So, INSTEAD of meeting at the Airport, on August 20th, we will meet at the Juneau Mercantile and Armory at 1720 Crest St in the valley.  This takes the place of our normal weekly lunch, and is open to ALL visiting Rotarians as well.  See you there!

Hi Faithful Flock!
The totals are in for our recent events: Donuts for Ducks - $1395
Super Bear - $710
Days of Summer - $1205
This, along with club sales brings us to about $5500 - We have met 13% of our goal with a little under 3 weeks to go.  Thank you all so much for your hard work and effort!
Our next Street Team will be at the HANGAR on the Wharf, Friday 4:30PM August 1st. Please come and joins us!  Let's get quakin, and send Freda packin'Image

The 3.5 week count down is ON, and it's time for some SERIOUS duck sales!  The skies the limit... let's get quackin' and send Freda packin' !

Here's where you can find us!

1) Street Teams -  Street teams are groups of our club members (spouses/GF/BF WELCOME), who go out and have some FUN, while selling ducks at the same time. It really is easier selling groups, and fun trying to out sell your friends! (Freda not allowed at these events)

We have the following LOCATIONS and DATES lined up and invite YOU to join (you could also do this ANYTIME):

08/01- Hangar – plus other DT locations (starting at the Hangar, then moving on to Viking, Triangle, etc)

08/08- Hangar – plus other DT locations (starting at the Hangar, then moving on to Viking, Triangle, etc)

08/15-Squires – Valley

2) Super Bear events with FREDA - we'll be outside of Super Bear from 4:30 - 6:30 on the following dates:   08/07,   08/15

3)  Donuts for Ducks - for the early birds, we'll at the Juneau Radio Center with FREDA 6:30AM-9:30AM (ish) on the following dates:   08/08,   08/15

Join the fun, and let's sell some ducks!       THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

Thank you District Governor Dick for visiting our clubs this week and sharing your message and ideas!  We had great fun along the way as well.  Thank you Jamie Letterman for the afternoon of whale watching:)  AND, you managed to make it a sunny day as well!

We had an afternoon of fun and fellowship on Saturday at our annual Tri-Club Picnic!  Thank you so much Colleen for coordinating - from set up, to take down, and everything in between!  JD, thanks for taking charge of the grill - you definitely earned the title of GRILLMASTER! Fun to mingle with the other clubs, our DG Dick Sutliff and wife, Page, and all of the families!                                                                                        Image

On Thursday the 17th of July, we finally got a break in the weather and were able to complete the painting at Riverside Rotary Park. Four Rotarians brought with them six helpers and we completed the painting in 2 hours!  The playground equipment looks Great!!

Wowzers, Tim created a BEAUTIFUL float, and JD brought home the bacon (or the "duck"), winning our float the "Most Humorous" award....I think the parade officials didn't realize that Freda was merely getting dressed, and really DID have a head to wear:)  THANK YOU club members and families for joining in the fun! Thank you so much for the tattoos Hayden!  They were a real hit with the kids!

We kick off our new year celebrating 50 years of service to Juneau!

Congratulations, PAST President Bill!  You did an awesome job leading our club over the past year, and we thank you!  I'm looking forward to the new year, and thank all of you for your service to Rotary, and to our community.  Let's carry out our RI President's theme, and LIGHT UP ROTARY, GVR style!

FREDA HAS LANDED! She ruffled her tale feathers at Sandy Beach on Saturday for GOLD RUSH Days!

Duck forms are available!  Please see Sheri Vidic, for club member forms.  If you know of an high traffic business's that would be willing to display forms, please see Teresa Young, and she'll set you up.

Please be sure to review the prizes on the form, as it's changed a bit this year.  We will be giving away a total of 10K in cash, plus, our Pres. Bill was able to solicit 2 round trip tickets from AK Airlines (thank you!), which will be part of the Grand Prize ( Airline tickets, plus $2500 cash).

Sold forms can be turned in weekly to Sheri Vidic, our Ticket Chair (and Treasurer).

We have many events coming up over the next few weeks weeks before our August 16th Derby date -  with the 4th of July Parade, Day at the Pool, Donuts for Ducks, Super Bear promos, Days of Summer, and Street Teams.  THANK YOU, everyone, for stepping up to participate! It takes a flock!

If you know of any events coming up where Freda would want to make an appearance, let us know.  She's willing, ready, able, and looking pretty darn good after wintering in the storage unit.

Thanks everyone!

Charity MacKinnon, Pres. /Co-Chair Duck Derby
