It’s almost that time again for the Member’s Annual Independence Day Celebration on June 30th, 2013.

Plan to bring the family for great food and the best spot in town to watch Dayton’s fabulous fireworks display. Chef Laura & Chef Geoff will be preparing Grilled Chicken, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Bratwursts, Smoked Sausages with Grilled Onions, Peppers, & Mushrooms, Grilled Tomatoes, Baked Beans, Pasta Salad, Potato Salad, Fresh Fruit Salad, and a Sundae Bar. Dinner will run from 5:30pm-8pm and then you are welcome to stay to watch the firework display from the lawn.

Limited seating available so please make a reservation by calling Brenda at 228-2148 by June 27th at 3pm.

The costs are $18.95++ for each adult and $8.95++ for each child ages 6-12—children 5 & under eat for free.

Bring your own chairs for a front row seat in our front lawn for Dayton’s Fireworks at 10pm


ENGINEERS CLUB OF DAYTON

2013 WILSON CHARBONNEAUX AWARD

The Engineers Club of Dayton has announced the 2013 call for nominations for the annual Wilson Charbonneaux Award.  This award recognizes individuals or organizations in the greater Dayton area that have made a significant contribution to the public’s understanding of science and technology and its impact on society.

The award will be given to individual(s)/organization(s) for their innovative approaches to increasing the public’s understanding of science and technology.  The quality of their outreach will be assessed.  A demonstrated commitment to advancing and defining the role of science and technology in all aspects of society must be shown.  Volunteer/not for profit activities will have preference over Government/Industry funded activities.

Past winners have included Dayton aviation writers, Howard R. DuFour, Fred Fisk and Marlin Todd, Melba Hunt and Mary Ann Johnson, a founding member of Aviation Trail, the Ralph Dull Homestead, Dr. and Mrs. James Stewart, Mr. Walter Hoy and Mr. Steven Frey.  Organizations that have been honored are The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, The Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Program in the Dayton Area and the Affiliate Societies of Dayton for TechFest.

The nomination should include the name(s) of the individual(s) or organization, statements addressing the above criteria, and contact information.  The award will be presented at the Engineers Club’s Annual Awards Dinner in September.

Nominations should be sent to the Engineers Club of Dayton, 110 E. Monument Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45402 by July 1, 2013.

Just a reminder that any vehicle parked in our parking lot should have an Engineers Club parking sticker in either their front or back window.  In an effort to keep our parking lot available for members and their guests we will be towing any vehicle that does not have a parking sticker.  If you need a temporary parking pass for a guest you can pick one up at the front desk.  If you have any questions please contact Darbie Kincaid at (937) 228-2148 ext 111 or dkincaid@engineersclub.org
