| Posted by Angela Bourgeois on Jun 10, 2013 Sue Reid reported that Dr. Pippa Moss has received our donation. Sue Reid presented the Club with a beautiful banner with a picture of Camp Tidnish. Thank you Sue!! The Senior's party was rained out. We are having some issues with our rain date. Our promotion of the park seems to have caused an increase in the use of the park. The Committee will meet today at 5:00 to discuss the rain date. Trip of the Month tickets have been disbursed to the team captains. You can start selling your tickets any time. There will be an auction committee meeting at noon next Monday at Walter's office. There will be a very small auction at the Lobster Party of the items left over from our auction. Don't forget to sign up for the Lobster Party. You must pay in advance. The party starts at 5:30. Shelagh will be meeting with the Preschool on Wednesday night with respect to the preschool transportation. Attendance: 28 local Rotarians and one guest speaker. Total of 29. No 50/50 winners. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Trip of the Month tickets will be distributed to your team captains soon. Trip of the Month Winners: Trip to Las Vegas- Marjorie Milner, $150.00 - Brenda Carter, Chris Patterson and Vera Faulkner Mike Stack has been proposed as a new member to the Club and is hereby circulated to the members. Party at Rotary Park on Saturday (now postponed until June 15). See Ian to volunteer. Official opening will be at 1:15. Camp Tidnish is now open. Camp started on June 4, 2013. Hay wagons should be ready soon. Cottage Day will be on July 13, 2013. Bring your lunch. See Jeanne for directions. Program on June 10, 2013 will be Wade Van Snick on the role of Guidance Counselors. The Club's Distinguished Service Award will be awarded on September 9, 2013. Diana Bacon was nominated for Club Secretary. Attendance: 1 Guest Speaker, 2 guests, 28 local members (31 in total) President's Report: We received a thank you letter from Cumberland Regional Libraries for our $400.00 donation to the summer reading program. We also received a thank you from the Highland Fling. Our speaker was Jennifer Furlong who provided an interest talk on restorative justice. Following our meeting there was a Board Meeting. At the Board Meeting it was decided that due to our other activities in June, we would NOT have a meeting on June 17. We will have a meeting on June 24. There will be no meeting on July 1. | | Posted by Angela Bourgeois on Apr 29, 2013 Committee Reports International Committee: Sue Reid reported that following Pippa Moss's presentation last week that a donation in the amount of $2,000 to Pippa's Place has been approved. Rotary Park Committee: Morris Haugg reminded us that the Senior's Party will be on June 8th. A grant was received from the County of Cumberland to help with costs. Rotary Information and Induction Committee: Morris pointed out the following pages 12, 32, 3, 67 and 69 of the Rotarian. Preschool Van Committee: Rob Roy has advised that the the Lion's Club is not interested in a joint project with Rotary. Meals Committee: Rob Roy has been advised that the Wandlyn is increasing the cost of our lunches. Rob will follow up with the Wandlyn. Program Committee: No meeting next Monday at noon due to the Auction. The following Monday will be Chad Ingram's classification speech. Auction Committee: A sign up sheet for work times was circulated at the meeting. Notices will all be sent via Facebook and email so everyone can contribute. See Shelagh or Walter for more details. Brian updated us to let us know that many items have meet reserve and we have 175 bidders at this point. Proxy bids are enabled this year- so you can set a maximum bid. Encourage everyone you know to bid and support the auction. Visiting member Josh Cormier of the Sackville, NB Club advised that there will be a wine tasting held by the Sackville Club this Friday, $35 per ticket. Contact Josh at Hicks Lemoine for more details. Cathy LeBlanc was inducted today. Cathy was proposed by Sue Reid. We are pleased to have Cathy join us! There was no fines master and no 50/50 winner. We all enjoyed Dylan White's classification speech and we were sad to hear that he will be leaving our Club due to his relocation. | | Posted by Angela Bourgeois on Mar 25, 2013 Committee Reports: Fellowship Committee: Jeanne Milner reported that on July 13 there will be a a fun day at the Milner Cottage. Rain date will be August 3. You should bring a life jacket, a chair, a lunch and friends and family. We will have a ride on the new Camp Tidnish boat. Susan McIsaac reported that our Club will be visiting the Sackville Rotary Club on May 23. This will be a breakfast meeting. We will car pool and will be leaving before 7:00 am. There will be no meeting the preceeding Monday. Rob Roy reported that that the Lobster Party will be at Camp Tidnish on June 21. The menu will include chicken, steak and lobster. Other upcoming evnts will be a trip to the bird sanctuary, wine tasting, pancake breakfast, bowling, curling...stay tuned! Rotary Auction: Walter Rayworth reported there was a rush of items turned in last week. The absolute cut off date to have the items turned in so they can be advertised in the flyer is April 4. Program Committee: Diana Bacon reported that there will be no meeting on April 1. April 8's program will be Terry Clarke's classiication speech. Attendance Committee: Phillip Fairfax reported that there were 24 local Rotarians and 1 guest speaker for a total of 25 in attendance. Guest Speaker: Gwen Kerr was our guest speaker. Gwen spoke about the 15th Annual Foundation Dinner which is being held on Saturday, April 27. The funds raised from the Foundation Dinner goes to support the Foundation's Cumberland Health Care Careers Bursary Program ($5,000.00 per student per year) and the Cumberland Cancer Assistance. Applications for the Cumberland Cancer Assistance are confidential; patients are identified by a number. These programs directly help residents of Cumberland County and Gwen urged everyone to support the Foundation. | | Posted by Angela Bourgeois on Mar 18, 2013 Committee Reports: Camp Tidnish: Bob Janes advised that the balance of the money will be coming from the Christie Foundation for the new boat. The old boat has been sold. The camp will be opening in May. He will be looking for some help to get the Camp opened up and cleaned. In conjunction with Easter Seals a new inground trampoline will be installed at the camp. Bob was looking to purchase a hay wagon for the Camp. He had found before the meeting ended. Thank you Walter! Social committee: There will be a meeting Wednesday night at Jeanne's house. Program Committee: Next week's program will be Gwen Kerr speaking about the bursary program. There will be no meeting on April 1, 2013. Amherst Preschool Van: Rob Roy advised that the meeting with Lions Club has been pushed back to May. Auction Committee: Walter advised that 300 items are now turned in - half of what we had last year. Get your items in ASAP. We had a moment of silence for Robert Caldwell, a past Amherst Rotarian who has recently passed away.

| | Posted by Angela Bourgeois on Feb 18, 2013 CLUB ASSEMBLY Attendance: 19 local members and 1 guest No Fines Master No 50/50 winner Rob Roy: Wandlyn is under new management but things will go along as they have been. Rob will follow up on having the microphone replaced. Jeanne Milner: Let her know if you know of someone who might be interested in providing entertainment at next week's Anniversary Lunch. Jim Ayers: Financial statements are available on ClubRunner. He has not received any comments from the members. In the first six months we have a very small surplus. Camp Tidnish account shows a deficit but it is simply a timing issue of when money is transferred from the Charity account to the Camp account. A new pontoon boat will be purchased, we have significant donated funds, consider a fundraiser for same. All is going well. Morris Haugg: Rotary Information/Induction - Chad Ingram's name was circulated yesterday through ClubRunner. There are two new proposals in the works and one new member being proposed. Anniversary: Next week is our anniversary dinner - it is a special occasion so invite guests. Let Rob Roy know how many you will be bringing. We are currently committed to 50 (per Rob). The recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship is not aware that he will be receiving it so please do not congratulate him when he enters. Rotary Park The 7th piece of exercise equipment has been ordered and will be installed before our party. Keep the date open because lots of help will be required during the party. The date is June 8, 2013, rain date June 15, 2013. Rotary Foundation report given last week. Sue Reid: International Projects If you know of someone who could benefit, tell them to apply. We still have funds available for this year. Only one project supported so far this year - Beth and Barry Gould's work in Haiti, Darrell Cole: Public Relations We are getting lots of publicity in the newspaper but he is looking at some radio coverage as well. Paul Calder: Membership District is looking for a net increase of 2 members for each Club. Discussion on incentives on attendance (including comments by Dave McNairn, Darrell Cole and Robert Angel), including discussion on additional fees for those who do not attend a certain percentage of meetings (80% was tossed around) and bringing in younger members of our community. Paul advised that the program "Time for Rotary" should help us in this task. Adventures in Citizenship We may have a candidate for this year. Rotary Auction Committee: Walter Rayworth advised us that the goal is $30,000 net this year! Encourages everyone to get as many donations as they can. Auction will be on May 6, 2014, on air in the afternoon and the evening. Always looking for volunteers for before, during and after the auction. Morris advised that Team Leaders will have their packages this week. We only have four weeks to do the collection! March will be for computer inputting and April will be to advertise our items. There will be an instruction sheet for how to fill out your donation card and where to do the drop off (Canadian Tire, customer service).
Rotary Park Committee: Morris advised that on June 8, 2013 there will be a party in the park! Mark your calendar!
