The funds we raise go to the community both locally and worldwide. Our major fundraiser is a July Ribfestwhich we run with the Mississauga West Rotary Club. We expect to get over 100,000 visitors to this community event! Our May Lobsterfest has sold-out for years, but we can always find a seat for the all-you-can-eat Lobster-chicken feast! We have a new fundraiser, the Festival of Lights, run in conjunction with the City of Mississauga. We thoroughly enjoy brightening up City Hall Square with this November/December event. AND WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE FUNDS WE RAISE? | | Rotary International, the world's first service club organization, is made-up of some 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. It's members form a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities around the world. Refer to Rotary Basics for a comprehensive, multimedia overview of what Rotary is all about. Please, then attend a meeting of our club for a first-hand look at us. | | Posted by Michael Syer This Rotary Club (and Rotary International) supports the pursuit of the United nations MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS and urges others to do so. Ask questions; lobby your MP and MPP. Be proactive! What are the UN Development Goals? -- click on 'more' | | From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world's most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI president) when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy. This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions: "Of the things we think, say or do: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? | | The Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions was adopted by the Rotary International Council on Legislation in 1989 to provide more specific guidelines for the high ethical standards called for in the Object of Rotary: | | Posted by Michael Syer The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfillment of the Object of Rotary, Rotary's mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs. |
