Lapeer isvery fortunate to have a medical facility with trauma level care.  The designation is not an easy task toachieve and is granted by the American College of Surgeons – Committee onTrauma (ACS-COT).  Trauma is the leadingcause of death for persons age 1-44 and the third leading cause of death forall age groups, with approximately 150,000 death per year due to traumatic injuries.  Patients with serious injuries require stabilizationwithin the “Golden Hour”, which is the first hour which starts at the onset ofinjury.
