THE BOTTOMLESS TOY CHEST WISH LIST - MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER

I talked to Mickey Guisewite, founder and executive director of TBTC, over Thanksgiving to find out what presents they need this season.  These are her suggestions:

Sports team-themed merchandise – Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, U of M, Mich State.  Teen boys are hard to shop for                                                                       and they love this stuff.

           Remote-control cars and helicopters

Legos and Bionicles for boys 11 and up

           Ethnic Barbies

           Craft kits for older girls

Soft, cuddly blankets, stuffed animals, and Lamaze activities for infants

Toys featuring popular characters such as Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse, etc

You aren’t limited by this list, but it should make it less overwhelming.

If you'd like to write a check, make it payable to The Bottomless Toy Chest.  Make a note on the detail line if you’d like a receipt.

Want Santa’s Helpers to buy a present on your behalf?   We accept cash donations.  If you want a receipt, please let Ron Ezell know.

Thank you all very much for your support in this meaningful project.

Our big toy turn-in day is on December 16, which is our Holiday Party.  We’ll also be collecting presents next Monday, December 9.  All you have to do is bring in new, unwrapped presents.  We’ve made arrangements to deliver them.

THE BOTTOMLESS TOY CHEST NEEDS YOU!

The Bottomless Toy Chest, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization serving pediatric cancer patients and their families, was started by Mickey Guisewite as a result of her experiences when her son washospitalized with cancer.

Children hospitalized at fivehospitals treating pediatric cancer choose from a variety of toys, games andart activities delivered by the dedicated delivery team of TBTC.

HELP A KID WITH CANCER IN ONE OF TWOWAYS.

First – Buy a toy or game or artactivity and bring it in to a Rotary luncheon meeting 12/2, 12/9, or12/16.  We’ll have collection bins andwill deliver the toys to the warehouse. Don’t know what to buy?  Go to The Bottomless Toy Chest website to getsuggestions for age-appropriate items.

Second - If time is an issue, write acheck made payable to THE BOTTOMLESS TOYCHEST.  Let Ron Ezell know if youwant a receipt.  Here’s what your checkcan do:

$15.00– A toy for one child.

$50.00– Purchase toys for an entire bone marrow transplant unit.

          $100.00 -  Support a visit to a transfusion room.

$250.00 – Fund an entire delivery toan oncology unit.

$500.00 – Fund deliveries for anentire month.

Birmingham Rotarians have generouslysupported deserving causes in the past.   We give thanks this time of year for theblessings we have received.  Can you makeyour thanks more tangible by giving a toy or a check to such a worthy cause?  The kids and their families need all the joywe can help give them.

Thank you – Ron Ezell, on behalf ofBirmingham Rotary.

Russell & Debi from the World War II Memorial in Royal Oak presented to us today.  They showed us the plans / details of what the memorial will look like and how we can help.  Corporations have already joined in to help fund the project; and there are also paver bricks that can be purchased in honor / memoriam of a loved one.

Michelle, Jean & Marsha visited us today from Variety, located here in Birmingham.  Their organization helps kids in need - simply changing lives.  One of the many things they offer, is 'giving kids a hand', literally, when they are born without limbs.  Wonderful presentation that touched all of us.

Fellow Rotarian Char, spoke to us on behalf of the Ms. Molly Foundation that was founded by Molly Maid.  It assists local domestic abuse shelters.  She brought along with her, Brian, who owns the Birmingham franchise of Molly Maid as well as Karen, who works at Molly Maid corporate offices in Ann Arbor.

The Ms. Molly Foundation has raised over $1.6 million in an effort to eliminate child and domestic abuse.  It is also trying to ease the transition period for the victims to create a better road to recovery.

Thank you Char for your wonderful presentation!
