Rotary Negril teamed with Dream Team Divers to provide pre-training and support for 8 young men who were striving to obtain Certified Lifeguard credentials through the Royal Life Saving Society.
The project was an overwhelming success, with 7 of the 8 participants receiving their credentials and becoming immediately employable in the industry. The pre-training included all aspects of first aid and CPR, as well as swimming and rescue techniques. Participants were supported with funding from Negril Rotary for pre-training, Royal Life Saving Society training, a tutor for reading skills, as well as travel and lunch funds.
In collaboration with St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen(operated by Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church and the Franciscan Friars),the Rotary Club of Negril has made the community programme “Get Kids ToSchool” one of their priorities for the year.
For more information or to donate to this programme, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The second, and perhaps equally important element of the Programme “Get Kids to School”, iscalled "Get Registered". Thisaspect is intended to encourage and provide support to parents and children toobtain basic required documentation, such as identity cards and birthcertificates, necessary to function effectively and progress in the course ofeveryday life. The process of obtainingthese documents is often daunting.
