Saturday April 20th 2013 was the beginning of the adopt a stream program.

22 people helped to do the initial clean up on Saturday. We filled about 30 bags of garbage and we removed a bike and old car parts.

Thanks to everybody who was there to help. Great job done!

Dear Rotarian :

Around the world, more than 32,000 Rotarians, Rotarian spouses and Rotaractors have joined Rotary Fellowships to enrich their Rotary experience beyond their clubs and districts. June is Rotary Fellowships month, and with 61 fellowships and counting, there are plenty of opportunities for people to share their hobbies and interests with others in Rotary and build new, lasting friendships along the way.

This Fellowships month, encourage the Rotarians to get involved with Rotary Fellowships. The two newest fellowships, the International Fellowship of Rotarian Photographers and the Rotarian Jazz Fellowship, are great places to start. To see a complete list of Rotary Fellowships, visit this link.

Please feel free to contact Herb Tropf  @ herb.tropf@gmail.com  if you have any questions.

In recent years, we have been lucky enough to receive permission from several talented artists to use their artwork on our calendars.

The art helped us to produce a beautiful calendar that people would want to hang at home or at the office and it served as a great bit of promotion for the artist who donated the use of the art.

We are inviting photographers (amateur or professional) from the participating Rotary Club areas to send in their submissions. If you know of a talented photographer who would like to be included in the upcoming 2013 Calendar, here is their chance.

Please support our 2013 Calendar.

Doug Samson: Evening in Paris. Our mime was unbelievable, the sketcher in the hall was great and the food excellent. What more can be said.

Doug Moody estimates a that the Evening in Paris made around a $25,000.00 profit which exceeds budget. All of the Club members including our exchange student, Marianela, were formally recognized for their participation in making the event a success.

We thank all our sponsors and supporters. Without your support this event would not be possible.

Hello Don ,
Just thought I would share with you an announcement that Rod made today that will go on the official historical record for the Province.
Rod is given opportunities to share news from his constituency and today he chose to celebrate and commend the good work that Rotary
has been doing to prepare for the opening of Rotary House.

I have attached the statement that he made today to all of parliament .

You should congratulate all of your fellow members on this great accomplishment !

cheers !

On behalf of In-Coming President Jim McIntosh, President Don, together with Howard Hamilton and last year’s awardee Bill Evans, they presented this year’s Howard Hamilton Award to Bruce Phillips.Image
Bruce was joined by his wife Janice and son Brandon to celebrate the honour.

The Howard Hamilton Award is awarded to the member who quietly, consistently, and unselfishly dedicates their time and wisdom to every aspect of the club over a number of years.

Congratulations Bruce!

An Exchange Experience by our exchange student Chantel Ouellet

When you hear the words “exchange student,” it brings pictures of bright youthful teens roaming through the streets of Paris or learning the art of cooking in Italy. You see them journaling on the city benches and socializing in the mall. What you don’t see is the experiences that really make the exchange. ...

It is with deep regret and sorrow to inform you of the passing of Ken Robinson.

Ken served this Club, our District, and on the International level over more than a 30 year period; as a Member, Director, VP, President, Past President, District Governor, and Zone Secretary. Many of us in the Club have been close friends of Ken's over the years and his loss will be keenly felt.

Please take a moment to think about Cynthia and the children, and to offer up a little prayer for Ken.

We will miss him deeply.

Rotary Youth Exchange

 Making a world of difference

A s a Rotary Youth Exchange student, you’ll spend up to a year living with a few host families and attending school in a different country.

Whether you participate in Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, you’ll learn a new way of living, a great deal about yourself, and maybe even a new language. You’ll also be an ambassador, teaching people you meet about your country, culture, and ideas. You can help bring the world closer – and make some good friends in the process.

More than 8,000 young people each year have experiences like these through Rotary Youth Exchange. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime. Are you ready for it?

Laudatio by Bruce Phillips:

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. SOME TIME LAST YEAR IWAS LOOKING AT MY ROTARY BADGE AND REALIZED THAT IT SAID I JOINED THIS CLUB INAPRIL OF 1980. YES I AM AN OLD GUY, A DINOSAUR . IT'S BEEN 30 YEARS.

A quick update to the numbers as I foundout another member made a substantial donation directly to Shelterbox. The newtotal is just over $5,500.00 (amending the just over $4,500 number), meaning atotal of 5 ½ boxes from the Club and our Member's and the Gov't match means atotal of 11.

This does not take into account the matchfrom the challenge at one of our members office, so there will be more to come, however I don't know when.

    Regards,

    Chris McMillan

    Hello all Barrie-Huronia Rotarians

As I updated the Club yesterday, between members donations and our Clubdonation, we have raised over $3,000 which translates to 3 shelterboxes will beon their way to Haiti. With the Federal Governments matching program another 3boxes will go, meaning our Club and Members are responsible with providing 6boxes in total! Thanks to all who have supported this program to date!

As this initiative is to assist with immediate relief, I will take donationsuntil Friday, so for those who may still be interested, please let me know byreturn email and I will be happy to have it added to your next quarterlyinvoice and will also ensure you receive a reciept from Shelterbox Canada.

Thanks again to all those who have generously supported this project, youare making a difference in peoples live's.

    Best Regards,

    Chris McMillan
