On Friday 6th December 2013, the Partners in Service organized a Christmas treat for approximately 45 students of the Brasso Venado Primary School situated. Rotarians joined with the spouses in providing lunch, ice cream and toys for the children (ages 5 - 12 years). Food hampers were also provided to the parents of the children.
The drive from our Club location to the school took us along a scenic path through the central mountain range and lasted for about one and a half hours. Led by President George, other Rotarians: Robert, Mike, Daniel, Ronald, Janet, Dean made the trip. We were warmly greeted by the Principal and students of the school.
The first highlight of the event was the grand entrance of Santa Claus aboard a fire engine. This created an air of excitement among students, teachers and parents. Santa emerged with a bagful of toys and distributed to the eager students.
The next highlight was the unexpected reciprocation of gifts from the students. They presented the Spouses and Rotarians with fresh produce from their gardens. This was a touching moment fr Rotarians as we were not expecting this.
In departing, students sang well wishes to us.........have a look at the pictures as token memories of a wonderful and gratifying project executed by our Partners in Service.
