Help Rotary grow and create a better future

Revised RI Strategic Plan gets back to basics

From time immemorial the greatest of the great have proclaimed by word and deed their adherence to the doctrine, which Rotary has summed up in the words, "Service Above Self."

Who shall say that the Rotary goal is unattainable?

Paul P. Harris  My Road to Rotary

Jul 01, 2010

“Rotary is the best in the world at linking people of goodwill around the globe and then gaining their cooperation and support to make the world a much better place to live and work.”

Rotary may be the greatest organization of leaders in the world. With 1.2 million Rotarians in 170 countries, we have an incredible asset of talent, wisdom and know-how in one organization.

It all started with Rotary's Founder Paul Harris, who today celebrates his 140th birthday. He was born on April 19, 1868.

Rotary Clubs are encouraged to conduct special programs on appropriatetopics during the following months designated by Rotary Internationalas special months:

President Louise  presented Bill Volume, visiting from the Kinsmen (and taking a break from watching curling on TV) with a cheque for $500., as a contribution was made from the Harvest Supper for the Food Bank. Let's do that again next year. Bill spoke about the higher numbers of needy in our community that the food bank serves, and they serve as well as there are supplies.  Perhaps we could think about the Food Bank in the beginning of January.

Rotarians Steve Dugas and Past-President Russ St. Louis of the Rotary Club of Kapuskasing wanted to help children in the fight against polio.   How could they do this and help raise funds? TO DATE TOTAL: OVER $2000.00 HAS BEEN RAISED FOR POLIO!!

There is a really great way to learn and share Rotary Information!

Rotary International launched its own YouTube channel a year ago with two goals in mind: offering Rotary video content to viewers who may not be familiar with the organization, and providing free video content to Rotary club webmasters.

The YouTube channel supplements video on Rotary's Web site by providing Rotarians the means of embedding video onto their own sites. (See Did You Know? to learn how.) Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors are encouraged to select from a growing collection of pieces from RVM: The Rotarian Video Magazine and from Humanity in Motion public service announcements. Plans include highlighting user-generated video. Go to http://www.youtube.com/rotaryinternational  and check it out!
