On February 26th Members of PNRC had the opportunity to see our community projects/District Grants in action.  Multiple members spent time at Alta Loma Elementary School Weds. evening; and with the guidance of Alta Loma Principal, Kristen Pasinski, were able to observe and participate in the computer lab set up in the Junior High building.  District Grant funds have been used to purchase 4 computer stations, which now allow the students to actively engage in the classroom, while at the same time being instructed by the teacher.  As always, it's great to see Rotary In Motion!!   (Pic:  Kate Carmack, Kristen Pasinski, Steve Matthews, Adam Carlat, Tammy Sabinsky)

Below are a two thank you notes PNRC received from students who were sponsored by the club for the RYLA 2014 program earlier this month.  One student comes from Deer Valley HS, the 2nd from Mountain Ridge HS.  Just a simple, straight forward reminder of why both Rotary and PNRC continue to support the youth and future leaders of our community!!!

 1.  My name is Andrea XXXXX and I was one of the delegates at RYLA this year. I just wanted to say thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to go to RYLA because it was one of the best weekends of my life! I learned so many things on leadership and how to become a great leader, like using good communication, and teamwork. The camp really helped me grow as a person and I am very grateful for that. I also met a lot of amazing people who made the trip that much more fun for me. Going to RYLA was definitely a life-changing experience and I had so much fun with every single activity we did. Thank you again for choosing me to go to it! I hope you have a great rest of your week, and thank you for your time. :) Sincerely, Andrea XXXX

2.I want to thank you and rotary for giving me this opportunity to experience many great and beneficial things. This trip has inspired me to do even greater things for the people and community around me. I learned how to work well with others and show leadership, however the most important of all i got the break out of my shell at RYLA. Like i said in the interview before i was a very shy person but i learned how to open up more and to face your fears. Therefore i believe this trip has helped with my shyness alot and that is why i really want to thank you for paying the expenses for the trip and putting RYLA together for future leaders like me.

                                Sincerely,
                                       Daniel K

Members of Peoria North Rotary Club joined students from Mountain Ridge High School Interact Club Nov. 23 to collect turkeys for St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance's "Super Saturday" Food Drive. The turkey drive took place in front of the Albertson's grocery story at 8240 W. Deer Valley Road in Peoria. A team of eight students and three members of the Rotary Club joined forces and reached a goal of collecting 100 turkeys during the drive. The turkeys and other donated items were distributed to families in need prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
