| Posted by Martha Weiss Our club asks a new member to give a talk about themselves so that we know more about them and their talents. Here is our newest member, Judith Kristan, telling us about her background, what motivates her, and why she joined Rotary. | | Posted by Martha Weiss Here is Evelyn, a student at Ak Tenimit in Guatemala, a boarding school that Rotary District 6440 supports both financially and through hands on projects. Also with Evelyn are President Stephen and club members Dan, Bill and Michael on their January, 2013 trip to the school. | | Posted by Martha Weiss Greetings from the officers and members of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove. Our club was chartered in 1974, and today we are 39 members providing service and building community both locally and internationally. As part of a worldwide organization, we are in our second century of "Service Above Self". I invite you to take some time to visit our web site and learn more about us. If you live or work in the area of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and are interested in learning more about our service organization, please contact us. We would be happy to tell you about Rotary, why we belong, and how you may become a member. Our club is diverse in professions and religious backgrounds, but we all have a common bond - to make a difference in this world and enjoy fellowship within our club. Welcome to our website. Stephen Legge, President 2012-13. | | Posted by Martha Weiss Our former Ambassadorial Scholar, Steve Solomon, was our speaker at a recent meeting and detailed how Rotary and our club's support has changed his life and opened many doors for him. He is currently employed by the Rotary International Foundation. | | Posted by Martha Weiss The Labor Day celebration in our village, Buffalo Grove Days, was an active weekend for our club. We hosted a Bingo game on Thursday night for 500 energetic Bingo players, we cooked and served pancakes at our annual Sunday morning pancake breakfast, we walked in the parade Sunday advertising what we stand for and what we do, and we sold rubber ducks for the Duck Race on Monday to raise money for our many charitable causes.
| | Posted by Martha Weiss Here is Nico, our exchange student from Chile, marching in the Buffalo Grove Days parade. | | Posted by Martha Weiss Our club participated in a literacy project with School District 21 where members read to classrooms of students and donated books to them. | | Posted by Martha Weiss Our club is the proud sponsoring club of two outbound students this year. Kristen (on the left) is on her Rotary exchange in Argentina, and McKaela (middle) is having her adventure in France. Our club, along with the Wheeling Club, is also proudly hosting Nico from Chile who is attending Buffalo Grove High School. Please contact us to learn more about this exciting opportunity to either become an exchange student, or host one. |
