The Rotary Club of Langley has granted $10,000 to the Langley Meadows Community School PAC towards playground reconstuction.  The school has over 560 students and a growing population. It increasing numbers of higher need students and families, and a relatively high proportion of potentially “at-risk” students. As a community school, the doors are open seven days a week and throughout much of the summer.

Built in 1990, the existing playground structure was inspected by the Langley School Board in the fall of 2010. It revealed what many had feared – the playground was at the end of its useful life. There are wooden structures with significant signs of wear and tear, including, but not limited to, nail pop and splintering. They have been deemed
unsafe and will have to be demolished. Parts have already been removed leaving barren, pea gravel covered areas.

The new playground is expected to be installed during Spring Break 2012.

On June 23 District Governor Wayne Wiebe presented club President David Truman with a banner recognizing that during the year the club was 100% Paul Harris Fellows.   This award is only issued once in a club's lifetime, and very few clubs earn it.   Thank you to the club members for their outstanding support of the Rotary Foundation.
