  • June 11th (Tues) at 6:30 pm we will begin our wine and outdoor movie night at the Karrick's place (9205 Park Rd., Edmonds).  Yes there will be a heater and other "warmth-providing-items".  There will be very good wine- my opinion of course.  Movie is yet to be determined...  $20 goes to the club operational funds.

Please come to Celebrate Our Club as we transition from one great year to the next great year!

Our event will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 at the Edmonds Yacht Club Banquet Room at 6 pm.

I thought that the centerpiece wine bottle should match the level of awesomeness of this club.  How about a 9 Liter 1999 Trutina from Dunham Cellars.  It is very heavy but Mike Cordova will pour a little into each of our glasses (about 50) using one hand- don't miss this!  Are you surprised to know that there will be a lovely array of awesome wines including other Northwest favorites?

Our beer drinkers have Manny's on tap.  Also sodas, etc.

The Menu, provided by Bar Dojo's catering (aka Shooby Doo) includes:

Bacon Wrapped Dates- Medjoul dates stuffed with almond, wrapped in bacon

Wonton Wrapped Shrimp with chili dipping sauce

Berry Salad- Fresh Summer Berries tossed with artisan greens and raspberry vinaigrette, finished with sliced almonds and goat cheese

Short Rib Roast- seasoned USDA boneless short ribs grilled and roasted, served on a bed of sweet Walla Walla cider-glazed onions

Wild Northwest Salmon- Herb Marinated Wild Salmon grilled and served with lemon caper salsa verde

Grilled Asparagus- Grilled whole asparagus glazed with mustard herbed vinaigrette, finished with crushed hazelnuts and goat cheese

Roasted Fingerling Potatoes- Seasoned potatoes roasted with extra virgin olive oil

Grand Centro Como Loaf- with salted butter

Dessert will be determined but is definitely going to finish the night right.

I sent out a survey a few months ago and survey says---  Nicer venue, great food, and something close by...

A night out like this:  fantastic food, unique and wonderful beverages, and a chance to get inside Lee Fitch's head for a while- for $80.00 per person.  It's a value.

JUST DO IT.

Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Club Fundraiser to Benefit Youth

Posted by Bryan Karrick on Oct 31, 2012

Eight members of Alderwood –Terrace Rotary Club travelled 5,200 miles to Cusco, Peru to build a playground in a remote village 30 miles outside of the city.  The $10,000 project was paid for by the club as part of its international service commitment.

The playground, including a swing set, climbing structure and a slide and tunnel system was installed at the school in Ancahuasi, Peru at an elevation of 11,200’  Four others from Edmonds, including two spouses and two guests, met up with 15 additional team members from the Chicago area to do the build in 4 days.  Without any tourism this village has very little income, other than their agrarian way of life.   Community leaders and local residents and parents attended the dedication of the playground which was then swarmed by the children.

Following the build, the team went to Machu Piccu, an ancient Inca site dating to the 15th century in a tropical mountain range.

Members of the team will present a slide show of the project.   Those interested in seeing the program on Friday, December 28, are welcome to attend as guests. Breakfast is served between 7 and 7:30am and the meeting is concluded by 8:30am.

Members of Alderwood-Terrace Rotary represent many businesses around the community.  They sponsor the Sharing Tree during the holidays at Alderwood Mall and perform a variety of community based service projects, including support of Clothes For Kids, and Pathways for Women.

Alderwood Terrace Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, an association of 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders around the world.  There are currently 33,000 clubs in 200 countries.

Alderwood-Terrace Rotary has commenced it's 25th year of collecting and distributing toys and clothing to those in need during the holidays.  The Sharing Tree started in 1988 in the toy department of Sears.

Club members and friends of Rotary who staff The Sharing Tree at the Alderwood Mall collect new toys and clothing from the day after Thanksgiving until the day before Christmas.  The items that are collected are primarily distributed to families that are eligible for food stamps or who's children are eligible for subsidized lunches.  It is especially heart warming when parents bring their small children to select a gift and bring it to donate at the tree.

On average, our collection is approximately 2000 items.  At an estimated  $10.00 per item, the club has distributed over $460,000 in toys and clothing to the needy members of our community over the years.

Not only do our members overwhelmingly support this project, it gives an opportunity for our community at large to give to those in need. It is also a way for our club to show the community what Rotary is all about.  This year, our champion will be stepping down from her leadership role, but leaves us in a successful position to continue our good work.

This is what Santa's Toy Shop really looks like!
