| Posted on Jul 01, 2012 I am honored to serve as Club President for 2012-13. What a great year this will not only as the District Governor's home club, but as we continue with our our club tradition in supporting many great organizations through funding and active participation. As a father of two young boys, prior service in the U.S Army, and an avid pilot, my focus is on youth, family, verterans, and my passion for aviation. These interests fit right in with the organizations and events that our club continues to support including:
Day in the Park School Supply Drive Central Coast Literacy Spelling Bee Boys & Girls Club YMCA Christmas Parade of Lights Annual Scholorsip Program and many other very wothwhle organization
A little bit about our new president:
Chris is a California native (born in Granada Hills), raised in Simi Valley. He has been married thirteen years to Katherine. They have two sons Riley (eight) and Colin (five). He served the US Army from 1991–1996 in operations at several Army airfields in several states and overseas. In addition to airport experience he also possesses a private pilot’s license. Chris has been actively responsible for developing and managing airport properties for more than fifteen (15) years. His previous position prior to moving to Santa Maria was with Ventura County Airports as Deputy Director of Airports. In his current position as General Manager of the Santa Maria Public Airport, Chris oversees the daily operations, budget, and capital improvements of the more than 2,500 acre facility. He is also an active member in many professional aviation organizations, and a proud member of the Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary Club.
| | Chartered on April 25, 1984, our Club has historically been committed to active involvement in our community through financial and hands on support for our youth, family, seniors, and the less fortunate. We are continuously seeking opportunities to serve. We support various scholarships and aid for students of all age ranges. Our leadership in the Annual Christmas Parade of Lights, development of Rotary Centennial Park, and our participation in numerous community activities and non-profit events; are prime examples of our on-going commitment to our community. | | Rotary is the greatest worldwide service organization on the planet. There are over 34,000 clubs in nearly 200 countries united to support its humanitarian goals. Our Club is very supportive, both financially and with hands on service projects of International scope. We are a sustaining 100% Paul Harris Fellows Club, which means all active members have committed to at least one fellowship, or a $1,000 contribution to 'The Rotary Foundation' (TRF). In fact, nearly 50% of our Club's 170 Paul Harris Fellows, are 'multiple donors' to this Foundation. The Club has supported several projects in several Countries, including Mexico, Peru, Phillipines, Guatemala, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Zambia, and Nigeria. | |
Members can make-up at their own convenience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Spending 30 minutes on the "Rotary eClub of One World" website constitutes an On-Line Rotary Meeting.
