Water, the source of life, carries death and disease in much of the developing world. One in six people in the world have no access to safe drinking water. With help from Rotary sponsored water and sanitation projects, like the Haiti Water for Life Program, Rotarians have helped thousands of communities globally.

Providing Clean Water is one of Rotary International's Six Areas of Focus.

Did You Know?

One of the first large-scale global grant projects under the Rotary Foundation's Future Vision pilot is providing clean water to thousands in Sierra Leone.

Subject: invitation to Rotary Club Niagara Falls Sunrise event

Conversation: invitation to Rotary Club Niagara Falls Sunrise event

Dear fellow Rotarians,

The Rotary Club of Niagara Falls, Sunrise has a tradition of involving newer members in organizing a special event that is a social opportunity among Rotarians and a fund raising opportunity.  We realize that each club has its own events that they hold or support, but on behalf of the “new members” we would like to invite you and your members to our event on March 9th, entitled A Premiere Murder.  It is a murder mystery dinner and dance.

Here is how the evening unfolds:  cocktails at 6:00, dinner at 7:00, (murder shortly thereafter), and dance at 9:00.  During the cocktails the scene will be set and throughout the dinner the audience will help solve the murder.  Once the culprit has been caught and taken away, you are free to enjoy the evening of fellowship and dancing.

We have created a Hollywood theme and are asking attendees to dress for the red carpet (cocktail attire).  We are also asking attendees to come as their favorite Hollywood personality or character from a movie.  Are there any Marilynn Monroe look-a-likes in your club?  How about someone as debonair as Clark Gable?

This should be a fun evening.  It is being held at the Grand Ballroom of the Stonemill Inn (Johnny Rocco’s, 271 Merritt Street, St. Catharines).  It is an evening of interactive dinner theatre.  Tickets are $75/person.  A four course dinner is being served.  Cash bar.  Call Brian Kon for tickets 905-704-9806 or by email at brian.kon@HotelDieuShaverFoundation.com <mailto:brian.kon@HotelDieuShaverFoundation.com> .

A poster has been attached.

Brian

August is Membership and Extension month, a time to focus on the heart of Rotary and what makes it great -- more than 1.2 million members in nearly 33,000 clubs worldwide.

On this topic Jacquie Herman-Wing, from the We Care Program gave us some excellent insight into what Rotarians do well, what we could do better and what we do best.

All of us in Rotary are looking to change the world, for why else would we be Rotarians. We believe that our world can be happier, healthier, and more peaceful. We believe that the future can and will be better than the past. We are idealists, and we bring our ideals to life through our Rotary service. - Sheila Bristo.
