Robert Smith, son of former Club Member and Ga. State Representative, Bob Smith, was our speaker today as he shared his architectural vision of Watkinsville with friendly neighborhoods, sense of place, green space, off-street parking, expanded security and multiple use of current and future buildings.  The town design was Robert's Master's Thesis at Notre Dame.  His visit concludes the programs for 2013-2014.  Thanks, Robert, for a great futuristic look at our town. Also, thanks to Joe Crosland III for his work as Club Administrative Director in providing the club with outstanding programs during 2013-2014 Program Year.

UGA Professor Emeritus Harold Brown, is a Senior Fellow with the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and author of The Greening of Georgia: The Improvement of the Enviornment in the Twentieth Century.   Prof. Brown states that drought predictions "useless" in the future - we don't know when, why, nor how much.  He also states the sea-level rise is a complex phenomenon and activists try to simplify the process to float their own agendas.  He told the Club that Georgia's environment the best it's been in a century and that forests, wetlands and wildlife have increased greatly since 1920.  Very enjoyable presentation.  Professor Brown is shown at left being thanked by President Cindy Haddon.

In addition to the new addition of the Tool Trailer, we now have a Rotary Club Street Sign (2).  The concept of the sign came from our Club Service Director, Will Ross, who made a rough but readable street sign to advise motorists traveling along the street as to what is transpiring with the additional cars and trailers parked around a residence.  So, we started designing a "Handicap Ramp" sign but then Tammy Gilland said that it (1) should be all purpose-sign and (2) should incorporate the new design of "Rotary Wheel Logo".  So, thanks to Will, Tammy, and a host of other board members. the lovely street sign at left is the final product.  Ain't it pretty?

This new trailer has been in the works for some time.  Steps to success:  Found used trailer in member's neighborhood, bought the trailer at bargain price, installed new tires, installed racks inside for tools and accessories, purchased tools, generators, etc., painted trailer, and just recently designed and applied Rotary Logo and other information with decals. Now you see it on display with Rotarian Will Ross, our 2013-2014 Service Director.  Fantastic project in it's own right.  Don't you just love it?
