ROTARY CLUB OF ST. ALBERT

Dear Friend of Rotary,

The Rotary Club of St. Albert will be hosting a fundraiser Dinner & Auction, featuring Danny Hooper on Friday June 7^th, 2013, to be held at the Italian Cultural Center.  This year’s event will have a theme, that theme being 1920’s (Gangster Era)

Our goal this year is to raise $100,000.  Thanks to the generosity of supporters such as you, we are able to raise these funds to assist people in our community and internationally.  You can provide support by donating a live or silent auction item and/or purchasing a ticket for the event ($125 each or table of 8 for $800)

Through our fundraising efforts we have been able to support the following:

Community Projects

·         St. Albert Music Festival

·         St. Albert Food Bank

·         St. Albert Rotary Park

·         St. Albert Children’s Literacy Project

·         We also support many programs that benefit our local youth through scholarships and personal development programs

International Projects

·         Financial Support to a girl’s school in Malawi

·         Donations to Polio Plus in an effort to eradicate Polio

·         Build water wells in villages that lack clean drinking water

·         Financial support to allow surgeons to visit South American countries to perform medical procedures

Matt Evans from Canadian Western Bank gave us a look at the success of an Edmonton born and raised institution that has defied all odds to become one of the most successful business stories in Edmonton.

Poised for new strength opportunities in the West, CWB looks forward to many years of growth.

It's always nice to see a guest come out to our meetings. Raymond's wife Jacqueline won the bottle of wine and also was able to enjoy a good meeting. Enjoy the wine with a little cheese!

A great Gift Idea for Any of the Celebrants                                 

 

A fellow was invited to the home of some friends for dinner. His buddy proceeded every request to his wife by calling her hoey, my love, sweetheart, pumpkin and so on. The guest was impressed as he knew that the couple had been married for nearly 70 years, and while the wife was out in the kitchen he said to his friend, "I think it's marvelous that after all these years you can still call your wife these lovely names."

The old guy hung his head. "To tell you the truth, I forgot her name about 10 years ago."

With the number of members in this club either owning or operating a business, we are getting a very poor interest in this nice little generator of funds for the club.
Are the rates too steep? I don't think so, but if you do, please let us know.
If you have any bright ideas on how to promote this little initiative, please speak up.
