ImagePP DENNNIS YOUNG reminded us to continue supporting the Rotary Foundation (TRF). This year District 5170 established an Annual Giving Donation Drawing to encourage Rotarians to support Every Rotarian Every Year by making a donation of at least $100 and hopefully $200 to TRF. A $200 donation earns one raffle ticket, $500 earns three, and $1,000 donation earns seven tickets in the raffle. The prize is a trip to the 2015 Rotary International Convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil. DENNIS, PP WYATT, PP SAM HARDING, PP SAM PESNER, the Jokester, and President KENDRA are the people to see about your annual donation to TRF.

Past District Governor Carolyn Schutz brought lots of raffle tickets ($10 each) and September 28 Fiesta Afloat Cruise invitations ($110 each) for us to support ImageCOANIQUEM, the Burned Children Fund in Latin America. She explained that this medical organization has expanded into Central America, treating even more burned children at no cost to them, training health technicians to effectively treat burn victims, and teaching burn prevention in the villages. Our club generously sponsored the surgeries and ongoing education for five young burn victims last year; we need $5,000 in donations from LARC members to continue that support for them this year. We’re now at just $2,000.

How can you help? Raffle tickets are just $10 and the prize is two airline tickets to anywhere in Latin America. PP MARLENE and VON PACKARD have already won in years past. Who will win the trip this year? Last year’s Fiesta Afloat was great, and this year will be even better with a sunset SF Bay cruise departing from Berkeley, a three course served dinner, and music/wine/fun with friends. Last year’s cruise was sold out, and LARC members filled two full tables with merriment. Please see PP MARLENE for tickets and information before the Sept. 23 deadline.
