On Tuesday June 12th from 5PM-7PM at the Warren Sharpe Center in Joliet, our club will sponsor a Mobile Food Pantry.  The Mobile Food Pantry is a truck that delivers meat, produce and nonperishable food to our neighbors in need.  In addition to purchasing the food for the truck, members of the Joliet Rotary Club will also work as volunteers to help distribute the food on the day of our event.

At our last event we distributed food to 141 families and 616 individuals.

More than 200 Rotarians from District 6450 gathered Saturday at the Willowbrook Holiday Inn to meet incoming District Governor Pat Merryweather, learn about upcoming events from neighboring clubs, and to hear a keynote address from Tammy Duckworth, former assistant secretary of Veterans Affairs, a lieutenant colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard, and a former member of the Rotary International Staff.

Duckworth spoke fondly of her tenure with the Rotary International office in Evanston and proudly proclaimed herself as a “Rotarian at heart”. She shared stories of her experiences with the RI office and from her combat days.
