MAY 7-13, 2012 • TPC SAWGRASS • PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL | | Posted by George Smith on Dec 11, 2011 Orange Park Community Theater gets great comedy right—plus, helps build scholarship funds for Clay county arts and music students! The Theater is performing an extra production, Thursday night, January 26th, 2012 in a joint effort with Concert on the Green! Never mind that this is one of three comedies presented by the Orange Park Community Theater this season, it is the only one that will contribute 100% of the proceeds to our Youth Scholarship Funds! | Let’s Murder Marsha, a comedy by Monk Ferris, directed by Stan Mesnick, begins when a happy housewife, hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries, overhears her husband discussing her upcoming birthday surprise with a friend. To her ears, though, it sounds like they are planning her murder! So she plans a murder of her own with the help of a neighbor. The results are humorous chaos. |
For a $35 tax-deductible contribution per seat, attendees will also have a unique opportunity to hear some relaxing music provided by past youth Concert winners and enjoy an elegant dessert and wine experience at the Theater from 7pm to 8pm prior to the show, hosted by the Rotary Club of Fleming Island. The Theater is located at 2900 Moody Avenue in Orange Park. The show begins at 8pm. To purchase OPCT tickets, please see Lauren Hoffman or buy online at concertonthegreen.com. | | Posted by George Smith on Jan 03, 2012 The St. Johns River Celebration is a one-day volunteer cleanup of the St. Johns River and its major tributaries. The cleanup effort goes beyond the shoreline of the river, spanning the river's entire watershed. People work at cleanup sites and help raise awareness of river issues to foster a year-round appreciation of this precious resource - Florida's longest river. · WHEN: March 17, 2012 from 8:00am - 12:00pm with a free lunch immediately following at Camp Chowenwaw · WHERE: Lakeshore Boat Ramp (Doctor's Inlet exit near Eagle Harbor) · WHAT TO BRING: SUPPLIES A rake or trash stick, dip nets, sunscreen, work gloves and your boat or canoe. You do not need a boat or canoe to participate. There is more than enough trash to be cleaned up in the ditches and along the river’s edge. Wear old clothes and protective footwear. Trash bags will be supplied. DONATIONS Bring a canned good(s) for the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry and a used book for the Clay County Women for Education. This is not mandatory, but kindly appreciated.
Note: Double Community Service Hours can be earned by Students! Volunteers under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult. Those under 18 SHOULD be accompanied by an adult. If you or any family or friends would like to be a part of the Celebration, please let George Smith know by March 9th.
