Champaign West Rotary is ordinary people coming together to do extraordinary things.

As a mentor associated with a local mentoring organization for the past 10 years, I have had the pleasure to interact with several young men that, for a variety of reasons, do not have a strong father figure in their lives.  One young man I have mentored for several years has not had a father at home for most of his life and, to make life more difficult, his mother has been in prison the majority of his life.  He and his three brothers currently live on their own in an apartment in Urbana.  The oldest has legal guardianship for his three younger brothers.

We have the best Rotary Club in the world! Read more about how dues and other club donations have supported the Champaign-Urbana community. We could not do this great work without your help!

The New Futures Scholarship Campaign gives the children at the Ministerios de fe Vida Nueva Children’s Home in Azacualpa Honduras the opportunity to attend bilingual and vocational schools that they otherwise could not afford. Thank you to the Champaign West Rotary Club! We raised just over $9,500.00 to support the Club's local community service and international service efforts. So again, thank you all!

The “Pickle” is one of our Club's popular outings, and is just one of the ways we have a great time giving back to others! We have donated $23,385 to the fight against cancer, with $12,400 of that directed directly to Glioblastoma research right here at Carle in the past two years.

The Rotary’s motto – Service Above Self – is a way of life for Rotarians.  And no one is a better example of ‘Service Above Self’ than our veterans

To promote active Rotary service, in 2011 Champaign West Rotary Club developed Veterans Day One on One, an invaluable program to honor our country’s service men and women.  Rotarians invite veterans to dinner to honor and pay tribute for their service providing an opportunity for Rotarians and those who served in our nation’s military to connect, express genuine appreciation, and share stories of their personal or loved ones’ experiences.  Soldiers are extraordinary, with the ability to influence and impact us all in incredible ways.

Thanks to all who attended the Ghost Train Fun!  There were some great costumes worn by Scott & Rita, Chris &  Emily, and Art! Fun was had by all as we enjoyed our family outing.  Hamburgers and hotdogs off the grill filled our belly's while hot choclate kept us warm.  No one got too scared on the train or in the box car...... This was our first time doing this event for Rotary and we are looking forward to next year.  A special thanks to our Ghost Train Committee: Laura, Jane, Art, and Eileen.

2012 Trip to Honduras Children’s Home

Champaign West Rotary members made a trip down to Honduras from November 14-18, 2012.  Rotarians Woody Chenault, Debbie Hirschi, Mike Hirschi and Kevin Yonce flew to San Pedro Sula and met with a Member of the SPS Rotary Club to discuss future plans between the two clubs.  Then on to the Children’s Home in Azacualpa, where we painted the cottage that Champaign West build for the home, we also planting 5 poinsettia plants at the Children’s Home to pay homage to the Champaign West Rotary’s Poinsettia Sales that helps raise money for our work at the Home and in the Azacualpa Community.

On Saturday, October 15th, Champaign West Rotary volunteered at the Champaign Telephone Company's parking lot.  The Illinois vs. Ohio State football game spectator parking is always a hot commodity and the $1,505 in proceeds went directly to Crisis Nursery.

CWR for years has held a golf outing, and our member Mike Dill was always instrumental in organizing this event. Hence the name the Pickle---Dill---Pickle---see the connection? Mike was also called "Pick" by several CWR members and friends.
We generally held this outing at the Lincolnshire Fields Country Club, where several CWR members are members.

On September 29th 2011 Champaign West Rotarian Steve Gardner wins the Challenge and a Sprint HTC EVO View 4G Tablet!  Other Rotarians competed and worked the event to help raise awareness for our local Junior Achievement chapter and raise funds to help put on the challenge for local High School Students to participate in this coming Spring.

Your purchase of a poinsettia from Champaign West Rotary will help fund the Club's local community service and international service efforts.  Champaign West Rotary poinsettias are nursery-fresh, 18"-20" tall, have 5-8 blooms, and come in your choice of red, white or pink.
